Steven Tyler on his way to American Idol..

from Blabbermouth.com

AEROSMITH bassist Tom Hamilton has confirmed to The Star-Ledger that the band’s frontman, Steven Tyler, will be a judge in the next season of American Idol.

Steven is doing ‘American Idol’. The ink is dry on that,” said Hamilton. “So, we’ll have to work around his schedule for a new record.

“I hope it doesn’t hurt the new momentum we’ve built up on this tour, because that’s been so important for us as a band. But I wouldn’t want to be the one standing in the way of this for him. Steven is someone who absolutely lives to be in front of an audience, and the people closest to him know how witty and entertaining he can be. I don’t know if ‘American Idol’ will be rock ‘n’ roll enough for him, but it is an opportunity for millions of people to see another side of Steven Tyler.”

AEROSMITH drummer Joey Kramer recently told Billboard.com that he sees Tyler‘s involvement with “American Idol” in a positive light, explaining, “We’ve been talking about it the last couple of days, and it’s made me come to realize what a positive impact it could have for (AEROSMITH). The possibilities are kind of infinite with something like that happening, us being exposed to a whole new generation of people. So we’ll see what happens. It should be interesting.”

Guitarist Joe Perry, however, has seemed in recent interviews to be shocked and a little upset about the news. He told a Tampa, Florida radio station late last week, “I was taken totally by surprise. First of all, why would he wanna do that instead of cruise on with AEROSMITH? We’ve got an album that we wanna do, we wanna do another tour . . . We’ve got so many things lined up, and then this happens. So many things go through your head. I’ve been with the guy for 40 years, and he couldn’t even . . . He said, ‘Well, they told me not to tell anybody.'”

Perry added, “If that’s what you really have to do, let’s talk about it, let’s plan it out, you know what I mean? We’ve all got families, we’ve all got different things going on, we’ve all got different things we could do. It’s like getting hit over the head.”

Relations have been tense in the AEROSMITH camp since last year, when a stage injury forced Tyler off the road and eventually into rehab, even as he alienated his bandmates by talking about taking two years off to pursue a solo venture. The group retaliated with threats to find a new singer. Eventually the two sides reconciled, although the “Idol” news may stir things up again.

John Wayne being replaced? This is an Atrocity!

google.com, pub-2427795083793513, DIRECT, f08c47fec0942fa0

Hollywood reshooting “True Grit”…:( Aren’t some things sacred? We need to clone John Wayne so he can come back and kick their ass…

I guess next they’ll want to reshoot Pink Floyd’s “The Wall” with Adam Lambert as Pink??? I made that up but jessh people, leave some of the classics alone…ok? They might as well let Stephen Hawking try and repaint the Mona Lisa ..(chuck)

Here’s an exceprt from the article….

1969, John Wayne played Rooster Cogburn in “True Grit” — a grizzled, drunken U.S. Marshal hired by a 14-year-old girl to track down her father’s killer. The role ended up winning the aging Western star his first and only Oscar, prompting him to make a rare sequel — “Rooster Cogburn” — opposite Katherine Hepburn in 1975. The image of Wayne’s craggy, eye-patched visage from “True Grit” has become a cinematic icon.

So film mavens everywhere were taken aback when it was announced last year that Joel and Ethan Coen would been making their own version of “True Grit.” But don’t expect a straight remake; this movie is based more closely on the Charles Portis novel. And Jeff Bridges, fresh off his Oscar win, was tapped to play Cogburn; that’s right, the Duke has been replaced by the Dude.

Iron Maiden # 1 Album in U.S?

google.com, pub-2427795083793513, DIRECT, f08c47fec0942fa0

from musicradar.com

MusicRadar, McBrain discusses what it would mean for Iron Maiden to hit number one with The Final Frontier. The celebrated drummer, who now lives in South Florida, also talks about how the new album came about, his technique (double bass setups are still a big no-no!), early influences and what new drummers on the scene he admires.

You’ve had number one albums in the past in the UK and other countries, but it looks as though The Final Frontier could debut at the top spot in the US. What would that mean for the band?

“It would mean that our American fans listened! [laughs] You know, [singer] Bruce [Dickinson] made it quite clear to all of our fans in America and Canada when we were on tour there during the summer that it would be great to go to number one, so hopefully everybody paid attention.

“Going number one would be amazing, a great accolade, of course. Would it mean the same now as it might have 15 or 20 years ago? I can’t say. But at the end of the day, I know we have a great album. I think it’s a work of art. If it’s not the number one album the first week, then hopefully it will be the second or third week – once people give it a listen, you know? Obviously, it would be nice now that I’m…well, I’m not really a citizen. What am I, a ‘legal alien’ or something?” [laughs]

Sounds about right.

“People have called me that before I moved to America, so I’m used to it. Don’t get me wrong – it would be great to go number one in the US, and I hope it happens. Really, that would be amazing. If it doesn’t, though, hey, it’s not the end of the world.”

Little Feat Drummer Richie Hayward Dies Waiting for a Liver Transplant

google.com, pub-2427795083793513, DIRECT, f08c47fec0942fa0

Richie Hayward, co-founder of the Little Feat, an eclectic jamband that maintained a strong cult following throughout the decades, has died. He was 64.

The drummer had been suffering from liver cancer and died Thursday at a hospital near Vancouver, Canada, after complications of pneumonia, his publicist, Bridget Nolan, confirmed Friday.

“He was waiting for a liver transplant,” said Nolan. Over the past year, benefits had been staged on Hayward’s behalf; he had no health insurance.

In a letter to fans last August, Hayward wrote about his predicament, but sounded hopeful: “My intent is to come back to the band, as soon as I am physically able. Your love and support will mean a lot to me, more than I can say. I love and will miss you all, and I will see you again on the proud highway.”

He last performed with the band on July 11.

Hayward helped form Little Feat in 1969, along with frontman Lowell George, Bill Payne and Roy Estrada. The jamband mixed a variety of genres including rock, country, jazz and blues, and were known for songs like “Willin”‘. The group fell apart in 1979 after George died, but reformed in 1987, and had been a fixture on the touring circuit.

Besides his work with Little Feat, Hayward also performed with acts including Eric Clapton, Robert Plant, Buddy Guy and Barbra Streisand.

Sheryl Crow, good looking? sure but she’s another green Idiot…

google.com, pub-2427795083793513, DIRECT, f08c47fec0942fa0

you have to read the comments, they are funny as heck 🙂 Here is  one just to get you started…(chuck)

Submitted by gyyrhunter on Fri, 2010-08-13 14:22.
Ms Crow let us know when your tour will be coming to the Midwest, we will be able to supply with plenty of recyclable wipes, they are called corncobs, they be disposed of easily and helps to add fertilizer to the soil. They will also provide you with a sensation you will never forget.
Here is part of her “Tour Rider”

The document, excerpted here, actually has a 2-1/2 page “environmental portion” to be “strictly followed and policed.” Seeking to “minimize the overall environmental impact of our tour,” Crow demands that only biodegradable cups and dinnerware be used by the caterer. Produce should be “organic and purchased from local suppliers as much as possible.” And for the five backstage “watering stations,” water “must be sourced from a local spring water vendor.”

According to Crow’s rider, her tour party travels between gigs in two 45-foot buses, while her equipment is packed into two tractor-trailers.

Crow, 48, also offers promoters “venue greening suggestions.” She wants “traditional light bulbs” swapped out for compact fluorescent bulbs in “all offices, dressing rooms and common areas.” “Eco-friendly cleaning and bathroom products” and “post-consumer recycled toilet paper and paper towel” should also be used. Crow’s rider also notes that, “We strongly encourage you to use renewable sources and/or to buy sustainable energy credits where possible. Many local utilities offer ‘green power’ as an option–please check with yours and opt in.”

The document also details how Crow’s backstage hospitality room is to be stocked. The singer needs an assortment of “biodegradable non-petroleum cups” and 24 “disposable napkins made of 100% recycled fiber.”

Be sure and visit the link and read the comments too!!!

Rob Zombie speaks truth, No One wants to buy music…

google.com, pub-2427795083793513, DIRECT, f08c47fec0942fa0

Back in the ’50s and ’60s people weren’t making albums, they were pressing singles and then an album was basically a collection of all the singles.”
The record industry is dying,” Zombie told Noisecreep. “I think they dropped the ball a long time ago and they’re never going to recover from it. Everybody loves music, everybody’s always gonna want to make music and listen to it, but nobody wants to actually purchase music anymore. That’s the trick. So for me, it’s a weird time because the music scene is alive and well. It’s just the music buying public is not. A year from now, I don’t even know if they’ll be pressing CDs anymore. Or if they do, stores won’t even bother carrying ’em.”
