“Red” rocker Sammy Hagar says abducted by aliens

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – No doubt Sammy Hagar, a former lead singer for Van Halen, has enjoyed a lot of far out experiences in life, but on Monday, the rocker told perhaps his farthest out tale to MTV. He was abducted by aliens.

Or, at least, his brain was.

In an interview for his new book, “Red: My Uncensored Life in Rock” at mtvhive.com, Hagar lets go of what even he admits might make him “sound like a crazy person” to some readers.

He and the reporter are talking about dreams he claims to have had about UFOs, and when asked whether he believed he had been abducted, Hagar answers: “I think I have.”

The reporter seemed surprised. “What? Really? I was kidding. You seriously believe that?” he asks.

Hagar laughs and goes on to explain that a passage in the book described as a dream in which he is contacted by aliens from outer space in California was, in fact, reality.

The tale describes how the beings tapped into his mind through a wireless connection.

“It was real,” Hagar told the reporter, according to the story on MTV’s Hive website. “They were plugged into me. It was a download situation … Or, they uploaded something from my brain, like an experiment.”

google.com, pub-2427795083793513, DIRECT, f08c47fec0942fa0

I don’t know about Master of Puppets being # 1. I can think of something better that deserves to be there. But that list has a lot of cool ass rocking Metal tunes in it to substain me and my metal heart! What do you think? Do yo have a list of your own? I would have to say I never considered Twisted Sister a real metal band. I always took them as a classic glam rock band ( pre “Posion” era more like 70’s New York Dolls)

Now Two Down from Alice In Chains….R.I.P. Mike Starr

google.com, pub-2427795083793513, DIRECT, f08c47fec0942fa0

The members of ALICE IN CHAINS have released the following statement regarding the passing of the band’s former bassist, Mike Starr:

Jerry [Cantrell, guitar]and Sean [Kinney, drums] are mourning the loss of their friend and ask that the media respect their privacy — and the privacy of the Starr family — during this difficult time. Their thoughts and prayers are with the Starr family.”

Starr was found dead in a house in Salt Lake City, Utah on Tuesday afternoon (March 8), according to TMZ.com. Starr, who was a founding member of the group and played on its first two albums, was 44 years old. Police who were called to the scene said that foul play was not suspected, but that drugs were found near the body. Starr‘s father told TMZ.com, “It’s a terrible shock and tragedy.”

According to The Pulse Of Radio, Starr had struggled with drug problems for years and was dismissed from ALICE IN CHAINS in 1993 due to his addiction. He had been arrested numerous times over the years for DUI, reckless driving, and various drug charges in Los Angeles, Seattle and Salt Lake City. Just last month he was arrested for felony possession of a controlled substance in the latter city.

Starr was featured as a cast member of the third season of the VH1 reality series “Celebrity Rehab With Dr. Drew” in 2009. Hosted by Dr. Drew Pinsky, the season consisted of eight episodes that followed the real-life experiences of celebrity patients undergoing detoxification and treatment at the Pasadena Recovery Center. However, like fellow rocker participant Steven Adler of GUNS N’ ROSES fame, Starr seemed to struggle once his season on the show was finished.

The members of ALICE IN CHAINS had been vocal about their distaste for “Celebrity Rehab” during Starr‘s tenure on the show. Guitarist Jerry Cantrell called it at the time a “real travesty,” while drummer Sean Kinney also blasted it. “It exploits people at their lowest point, when they’re not in their right mind, and the sad part is, this is like entertainment for people when it’s actually a life and death situation,” he said. “I don’t think it helps anybody and it makes entertainment out of people’s possible death, and that’s pathetic and it’s stupid. So I don’t support that show at all and I think it’s pretty disgusting.”

Following the news of Starr‘s death, Pinsky tweeted, “Devastating to hear of Mike Starr succumbing to his illness. So very sad. Our prayers are with his family.”

Starr was ALICE IN CHAINS‘ first bassist and played with the band from 1987 to 1993. He appeared on the band’s first two albums, “Facelift” and “Dirt”, but left in the middle of the “Dirt” tour and was replaced by current bassist Mike Inez.

ALICE IN CHAINS vocalist Layne Staley died in 2002 after a long struggle with drug addiction that halted the band’s career for years, until they returned in 2009 with new singer William DuVall and new album “Black Gives Way To Blue”.

Ray Boltz…”unbolts”… from heterosexuality…

google.com, pub-2427795083793513, DIRECT, f08c47fec0942fa0

I guess its old news by now since it happened in 2008 but I just found out about it and thought I would write about it. First off, his music is powerful and anointing. Remember “Watch the Lamb” and “Thank You”? Great ministering songs. They have been used in “Easter” dramas in churches all over the world… Ray has won 3 Dove awards over the years and sold over 4 million albums during his 20 years as a Christian performer.

I really don’t care whether he is gay or straight or on the fence, behind the fence or no were near the fence. That’s not what I am writing about. I read his biography on his website and some of the facebook posts from fellow (or should I say former) Christian fans of his and that is disturbing to say the least.

Here are some of the quotes from Christians’

“I just found out that you came out as a homosexual. I actually cried when I discovered this was true. I want you to know that I am praying that God gives you the strength to overcome the lifestyle you have chosen”

“I have a couple of friends that are, but I love them and pray God will for them, they know it not right, and I know one day they will turn, to God!”

“I love you brother, but it is the sin, that I can’t agree with. If you notice everything that pertains to homosexuality hard to come by, God created families, that alone in itself show that, you can’t created children, you said you were born like that, that is not possible,”

And this one…

“Are you still singing. I went to the Christian book store here and they told me they no longer carried your albums.”

It’s funny but  not in a “laughable’ way how fast some, dare I say most? Christians drop people who no longer fit what they perceive is how one should look or act as a christian. Why is that so? Why are they or we, ( I do think I am a christian) so quick to do that? Like damaged goods we all are, right? So, Ray comes out and is immediately kicked to the curb. What if it was just a divorce? Or what if he came out with a drug problem? Would he be treated any differently?

The bible in the past has been used to condone and condemn slavery at the same time. An entire civilization (The Incas’) was wiped out in the name of God by Christians that misinterpreted the bible. It was also misused to send innocent people to their deaths by God fearing Christians that suspected them to be witches. It goes on and on.So maybe Christians are wrong about someone being gay and God hating them… What do you think? Maybe Christians’ mean well but in reality, they are really just using the same tatics that has been used in the past. The ole “Repent or die” method. Not that they actually kill people these days but they slay them with words and not kindness.

I will be the first to admit that as far as some Gay agendas are concerned… I don’t like their tactics either. Some of them have the accept me or else type of attitude.  They rise up and push their agenda in our faces and exploit it on tv. They being gay doesn’t offend me but those actions offend me. That either “accept me or I will sue” mentality. That doesn’t work for me either. But as a friend of mine just recently pointed out. Maybe they are just responding back with what they have had to put up with from Christians who had pushed their own agendas in their face for so long that  it was time to push back? Who knows…

Enclosing…

Can’t we all just get along?

R.I.P. and God Bless Terry “TC” Chambliss

google.com, pub-2427795083793513, DIRECT, f08c47fec0942fa0

Terry “TC” Chambliss was Holy Cross’s sound man and road manager but more importantly a good friend to all of us.

I first met him back in 1999 when I was asked to join the band. He used to joke when we were all loading the band trailer that he would start putting the gear on the back wall and play Tetris the rest of the way out with it. When he would take a smoke break my son Josh and Terry would head outside and it was a running gag that Josh was out there secretly smoking with TC 🙂 Terry also turned out to be my driving buddy alot. We both liked to drive at night and we would sit up front in the van and listen to campy old radio stations and talked as we crossed over the many miles of highway as the rest of the guys in the band slept. He loved the Lord and had a servants heart. I don’t think I ever saw him upset. Another one of my many memories of him was that his road breakfast was a cup of coffee and a cigarette. I enjoyed my time with him and will miss him. I know he is healthly and whole and in Heaven now. Rest in peace my friend.

google.com, pub-2427795083793513, DIRECT, f08c47fec0942fa0

MÖTLEY CRÜE drummer Tommy Lee has spoken to Billboard.com about the band’s upcoming tour with POISON and the NEW YORK DOLLS to celebrate the the 30th anniversary of the band’s first album. Lee says the band is “just starting” to talk about its stage production for the jaunt, which begins June 7 in Dallas, Texas and so far has 38 dates booked through August 5 in Toma, Wisc. Repertoire decisions, including how to treat the anniversary of 1981’s Too Fast For Love, will be made in April when Lee, Nikki Sixx (bass), Mick Mars (guitar) and Vince Neil (vocals) convene for rehearsals.

“When the four of us are together, which we will be in the summer, that’s usually when it goes down,” he says about creating new Crüe music. “We record sound checks with new ideas. I always have a studio on my bus. So I would imagine we’ll start compiling ideas this summer. It’s almost like you’ve got to get away from home to start writing music.”
