Marilyn Manson review 2/20/13 • Anaheim Ca.

google.com, pub-2427795083793513, DIRECT, f08c47fec0942fa0

This was submitted by my fellow metal sludger Huey Ramone.

He has pretty bad ass band called deathsquad demongods that we will be interviewing shorty. But in the mean time go by and check out his  bands’ page here. http://deathsquaddemongods.com/

Here is his review of the Marilyn Manson show!

Marilyn-Manson-marilyn-manson-29937641-900-1150So I was given 2 sweet ass front row tix to see Manson last night. I wasn’tt gonna go, cause of how far from grace he’s fell, but they were free, so It sounded great.

Butcher Babies opened up, and I swear to god, that was the worst shit ever. Good god, that band sucks ass. The guitarist had about 14 strings on his guitar and the entire soundtrack for their set was just one long WHIRRRRRRRRRRR.

The two chick singers sucked total ass too. The hot blond one held down some weak ass ROARRRRRRRS with the help of a harmony unit that did nothing to bring her into Angela Gossetness, and the less hot one just did much of the same shit too. The two fake tit singers didn’t even strip down, and they tried their best to get the crowd interested, but they just weren’t havin’ it too much.

This vid is from a couple days prior, but it’s equally craptacular:

So Manson comes on, all fat and with a terrible haircut, but for a couple songs he actually does pretty good. And Twiggy was in a fucking cool outfit and had some of the coolest fucking guitars. BC Rich Bich, Blackie Lawless style Widow guitar, Mosrite, Pink Mockingbird, Chrome Flying V, Les Paul, etc. Like a different guitar for every song. We’re off to a good start!

Here he’s doin’ Disposable Teens, the 2nd song, from further back in the venue:

So Mobscene is the 4th song, and here it kinda falls apart. he’s tired, he’s winded, and he totally fucks up the 1st prechorus:

From here, it’s just….hmm. I guess i’m having some good fun. I’m up close, I’m drinking $8 Jack n Diet Cokes, Twiggy looks awesome, Manson looks terrible, and sounds meh, but does something new n interesting each song. It’s just so far removed from godlike Manson of a decade earlier.

Coma White was cool. That song’s bad ass, and the snow was falling on me as it went. You had to be there i guess:

Look at Antichrist Superstar. He tosses some mics to the crowd, and 2 bibles, which is cool, but he’s more interested in pulling up the fallen props, he can barely be bothered to sing. And the 2nd verse it with bible pages in his mouth. It’s like he’s cool with being a goof.

He ended with Hate Anthem. Spent so much time trying to hold the “Fuck it!’s” that he’s miss the next one and be out of breath. What’s the point???? sigh.

it was all over after about 70 mins. But It was ok…. You kinda realized he had given all he had left in the tank. I needed to get back home for work anyway.

I give Butcher Babies 1 star, and hope the record label drops them before the record comes out.

Manson? Sigh. Totally worth it and a fun night (especially for free…. the face value on the tix was $60 + 14.00) but it’s just sad how far he’s fallen from godliness to comic/parody.

Kickacts interviews Bob Pressner!

google.com, pub-2427795083793513, DIRECT, f08c47fec0942fa0

Welcome to Kick Acts. Tell us a little about yourself and your band and were you can be found at on the web.

My name is Bob Pressner.  I’m a singer-songwriter out of Boca Raton, FL.  You can find my catalogue of music and music videos on YouTube.  I have over 20 million views on a lot of my music videos and have really made my mark in music through YouTube and social media.  I also had a Comcast Live OnDemand special which can also be found on YouTube air last year and it ranked #1.

MAIN_bobpressner-0142Who are your musical heroes, influences & why?

Joni Mitchell, Leonard Cohen and Michael Hedges are a few of my favorites.

Do you have any advice for someone just getting started in playing music? Any pitfalls they should avoid?

Avoid anyone who tells you that you can get rich quick.  Music is a business just like any other and it requires work, commitment, persistence, and patience.  For the most part you don’t become a huge success overnight.  Beware of those who tell you that you will…

Do you have a greatest gig story you’d like to share?

I played the Sundance Film Festival last year that was quite a thrill.  That was probably my favorite.

On the same token as the above question. How about a “worse gig” ever story.

Hmmm, that’s a tough one.  I guess when I was younger and inexperienced I had a couple of bad shows where maybe I didn’t know how to handle playing a set right or a drunk crowd or something like that…no great stories come to mind.

Do you have any other hobbies other than playing music? Collect stamps? Collect hats from off the side of the road? Draw pictures of boobs?

I love watching almost any sport, but really love playing golf. No stamp or hat collection…and sure, I think I could probably draw some nice lookin’ boobs if necessary.

What do you think about the present music scene or lack of?

Looks like music has really blown up on the Internet and in all things social media related.  However, even with the success of YouTube, it’s still a struggle to monetize music today, even if you have millions of fans who subscribe to your channel.

Tell us something about you that we wouldn’t expect to hear… (Like weird hobbies or something like that)

I once hosted my own TV show.  That was pretty cool.  It was years ago, but I still got it!  In fact, I’d like to host my own show again down the road!

Hypothetical situation. You’re stranded on Gilligan’s island and you get to hook up with only one of the girls. Is it Ginger, Mary Ann or Mrs. Howell and why?

Can I not have all 3?

Our last question is called  “Shout It Out Loud”. It’s where you get to talk about whatever you want to talk about. So go ahead and “SHOUT IT OUT LOUD”!

GO TO iTUNES AND BUY MY ALBUM!

Slayer makes Yahoo news..like

google.com, pub-2427795083793513, DIRECT, f08c47fec0942fa0

Anyone that reads Yahoo knows who Slayer is…

That’s a not a dig at Slayer. Anyone that listens to good music should know and “fear’ Slayer (joking). If you don’t have Slayer’s “South of Heaven” in your MP3 collection, well, you need to. Or I guess you may be swinging from Justin Bieber’s ball sac if you don’t…I mean didn’t you ever win a Slayer mirror at the Fair???

Anyway, not where I am headed.

Seems there is a money issue in Slayer’s camp and when Drummer Dave Lombardo brought it up  he was replaced.

Dave Said…

“Last year, I discovered 90% of Slayer’s tour income was being deducted as expenses, including the professional fees paid to management, costing the band millions of dollars and leaving 10% or less to split amongst the four of us,”

Fire safe Cigarettes and tennis shoes

google.com, pub-2427795083793513, DIRECT, f08c47fec0942fa0

You have a right to smoke, I am not a smoke basher. (well I am not a fan that some of my kids (adult kids ok) smoke and my wife waited until she was 30 years old to get that hook embedded in her too and now none of them have the will power to quit but that’s another subject….

And for the record I have like 1 cigarette a year. Usually on the river on our boat and after having a few beers I get that “urge” to have one. And then I spend the rest of the week “wheezing” and that urge goes away for another year….But once again, it’s your right to smoke. I am on your side just want you to know what the cigarette companies add to those cigarettes. You are old enough I am sure to make your on decision about smoking…

But about fire safe cigarettes…

Smoke on,

it’s your right to smoke  but be advised of what makes it “fire safe”. Your basically smoking tennis shoes, box tape, body bags, expanded foam and rubber, artificial flowers and more…So read on and don’t be offended…

From Wikipedia…

Most commercial cigarette papers in fact use cellulosic and alginate bands[citation needed]; however many patents have been registered in the literature in relation to materials that could be used to make the bands, including EVA polymer ethylene vinyl acetate. When burned, the polymer of EVA becomes unstable, and the health risks of inhalation are not known. EVA and PVA polyvinyl acetate polymer adhesives have been used by the tobacco industry for many years, and are the industry standards.[citation needed] A similar quantity of PVA polymer is required to glue the paper seam in a fire safe cigarette as in a standard cigarette.

Also from Wikipedia..

cigarette-components

EVA is one of the materials popularly known as expanded rubber or foam rubber. EVA foam is used as padding in equipment for various sports such as ski boots, hockey, boxing, mixed martial arts, wakeboard boots, waterski boots, fishing rods and fishing reel handles. It is typically used as a shock absorber in sports shoes, for example. It is used for the manufacture of floats for commercial fishing gear such as purse seine (seine fishing) and gillnets. In addition, because of its buoyancy, EVA has made its way into non-traditional products such as floating eyewear. It is also used in the photovoltaics industry as an encapsulation material for silicon cells in the manufacture of photovoltaic modules. EVA slippers and sandals are currently very popular because of their properties like light weight, easy to mold, odorless, glossy finish, and cheaper compared to natural rubber. In fishing rods, it is used to construct handles on the rod-butt end. EVA can be used as a substitute for cork in many applications.

EVA emulsions are polyvinyl acetate (PVAc) copolymers based on vinyl acetate (VAM) internally plastized with vinyl acetate ethylene (VAE). PVAc copolymer are adhesives used in packaging, textile, bookbinding for bonding plastic films, metal surfaces, coated paper, as redispersible powder in plasters and cement renders

Vinyl acetate ethylene copolymer(VAE), is also used in coatings formulation of good quality interior water-borne paints at 53% Primary dispersant

Hydrolysis of EVA gives ethylene vinyl alcohol (EVOH) copolymer.

Other uses

EVA is used in the manufacture of the Adidas Jabulani football. EVA is used in orthotics, fire safe cigarettes (FSC), surfboard and skimboard traction pads, and for the manufacturing of some artificial flowers. It is used as a cold flow improver for diesel fuel and a separater in HEPA filters. EVA can easily be cut from sheets and molded to shape. It is also used to make thermoplastic mouthguards that soften in boiling water for a user specific fit. It is also used for impregnation of leather. Additional uses are in the making of nicotine transdermal patches since the copolymer binds well with other agents to form gel like substances. EVA is also sometimes used for making body bags.
