Michael Sweet interview from Powerline
This a great interview and the guy asked all the right questions. Michael Sweet is candid and open. I give him props for saying he hasn’t been in a christian record store in 20 years. I haven’t either. The music to me is unexciting and a copy of most secular bands. No one hardly stands out on their own…

Here is an excerpt.
I mean, do you think Christian rock is in a better place than it was 30 years ago?
Sweet: No. No, I don’t. I always view Christian rock and music differently than a lot of other people do. For saying these kinds of things I get referred to as a pompous jerk and someone who’s just not nice. But I speak from the heart and I am very open and very honest. I just think that a lot of times Christian rock is every bit — if not more so — a cookie cutter business. Sometimes I question whether any of these bands are really Christian. And I don’t mean that in a judgmental way. I just mean that in the sense that: ‘Oh wow, I couldn’t get a major recording deal, so I’m gonna go get a Christian deal. Because that’s easy.’ And you get so many of thee bands and you meet them one-on-one and you start having a conversation with them about religion or spirituality and they have no clue what you are talking about. They’re looking like deer in the headlights. And it’s like ‘Wow. Okay.’ And I’ve seen this personally. I’ve come across it personally — and I won’t mention names — and it’s kind of sad, the state of where we’re at. So many bands, clawing their way to the top, and fighting like it’s a competition. I listen to this band and then listen to the next band, and I couldn’t tell the two apart. So many bands sound the same. Every now and then there’s a special band that comes out and you’re like ‘Wow, they’re amazing.’ That’s few and far between, in my opinion. Groups like Switchfoot are amazing. They come out, you know who it is when you hear them, they have their own unique sound, like POD when they hit the scene. But not a lot of bands that come out have that kind of power and uniqueness and that originality.
Do you find that Christian record stores still carry a lot of the CDs?
Sweet: I don’t know. I haven’t stepped foot in a Christian record store in, I don’t know, maybe 20 years. So I’d definitely be the wrong guy to ask that question.

Chris Holmes “Way to be” vid
I am thinking Chris Holmes (formerly of W.A.S.P.) might just be the next David Allen Coe. He isn’t much of a singer but he still has his chops. And killer chops that is for sure. He should find a singer and get out there and make some noise. He is a bad ass guitar player anyway and still has the cool guitars!

March 19, 1982 We Lost a Legend… Randy Rhoads
3.19.82 – The lead guitarist of hard rock star Ozzy Osbourne’s band and two others were killed today when a plane in which they were buzzing a mansion slammed into the home, deputies said. Guitarist Randall Rhoads, 25, formerly of the Los Angeles-based group of Quiet Riot, pilot Andrew Aycock, 36, and Rachel Youngblood, 58, were killed in the 10:30 a.m. crash, Lake county Deputy Sheriff Mike Smalt said. He said that the plane clipped a van and a tree before crashing into the two-story colonial house. Osbourne, 33, was in the van when one of the plane’s wings clipped it but escaped injury. The chunky former Black Sabbath lead singer in his two-year solo career has become known for such outrageous stage antics as biting off the head of a live bat. He was recently arrested for relieving himself on the walls of the Alamo. Several other members of the group were inside the home but fled before the structure was gutted by flaming gasoline. Rhoads and Youngblood, the group’s hairdresser and makeup artist, were from Los Angeles, Smalt said. He said Aycock lived at Flying Baron Estates, the private airport community where the accident happened. The group was staying at the mansion before a concert that had been scheduled in Leesburg late today. Jack Barker, Atlanta regional spokesman for the Federal Aviation Administration, said the aircraft was a Beechcraft Bonanza. He said the agency flew an investigator to the scene.

Bret Michaels turns 50!
Say it isn’t so… Damn all of us 80’s guys are creeping up on the half century mark. But you know what? We still look and feel like we are 21 so kiss my ass all you young dudes. Growing old and being old is for pussies. Can I say pussies on Kickacts? Let me check..hang on… Kickacts is me anyway. so yea, growing old is for pussies…guyliner is still in use as needed…
Bret has had a few health scares but for a diabetic that is still out of the road, keeping it on the road he is doing well. Can’t beat a guy that calls his chick in the middle of the night from the road to check in only to hear a guy’s voice so he goes back to the laundry mat and picks out “Every rose has it’s thorns”. You think she is still pissed? You think he still cares? That song is still pulling in the bucks and like Bret says, his old girlfriend is on her seventh or eighth husband. So, Bret wins!
Anyway, Happy Birthday Bret!
Now go get your candles blown!!
Here are some of the Poison songs I really like….
