Redline Chemistry New

Kansas City Missouri rockers Red Line Chemistry have just inked a deal with Pavement Entertainment. The first release with this new partnership will be the long awaited official and special edition release of their 2006 album “Chemical High and a Hand Grenade”. The band has also added bonus tracks from their self-released 2007 follow up “Escape Plan” to this special edition.

Originally recorded as the band’s debut album, “Chemical High and a Hand Grenade” was shelved and the band moved forward with new material in the form of “Dying for a Living” (2011), and “Tug of War” (2013).

“We are stoked kick off 2015 announcing our signing and new found home with Pavement Entertainment, affording us the extraordinary opportunity to continue bringing our music to all of our amazing fans who have stood by us through every endeavor.  Huge thanks to Mark, Tim, and the Pavement team for bringing us into the family!” says Brett Ditgen.

Slated for a second quarter 2015 release, this re-mixed, re-mastered, and re-invented album represents an unforgettable and long overdue part of the band’s career.  Be sure to grab this unique piece of the Red Line Chemistry legacy!

Kid Rock’s New Video “First Kiss”

google.com, pub-2427795083793513, DIRECT, f08c47fec0942fa0

KR_FK_Sngl_Final-RevIt’s a long way from his 1997 release Bawitdaba, but it shows his music is ever changing and not stale. I give it a 4 beer “hell ya!” toast out of five, only because the intro reminds me of Bryan Adam’s “Summer of 69”. But really, how many distinct variations of 7 notes can we all do?? I think Kid Rock will continue to put out great music for many years to come. Also, you gotta give props to him for going out on tour and only charging 20 bucks a ticket in order for anyone to be able to afford to see him…Here’s an article about it. Click—>Detroit Free Press

Christmas in the Park, needs a little Santa Magic

3 of our Grand kids mailing letters to Santa!

This past Christmas Eve I went downtown to the Christmas in the Park display as we do every year. We have been going there since our kids where little and now they in turn, take their kids and drop off letters to Santa at the North Pole mailbox as they did when they were kids. So it’s been our family tradition that’s a good 20 years old or so…

I remember when our kids were young how the displays were new and lit up. The wooden handmade tractor and the little rocking pigs and such. The giant Castle that used to be there. The three wise men stood watch there too. The Gazebo was always decorated and lit up too. Christmas music was piped in  from speakers located at different points of the displays. The large tall trees were also lit up. A festive time of year and an enjoyment for all. Santa was indeed coming!

This year, as I have noticed for the past couple of years the displays have fallen on hard times. Whether due to neglect, vandalizing or both. I can see the care and attention to detail on all the displays when they were made. The Train still holds up but the big tractor had a wheel broken off it and it was propped up against the display. One of the little wooden pigs had a steering wheel that was left lying to the side. The large trees that are usually lit with all colors of lights were dark. I looked the trees over and the lights where there but not turned on. The little room with the Christmas tree and fireplace display, only half the lights were working on that display. The music was gone. I looked it over, hoping to find out and fix why only part of the lights were on as as my grandkids’ admired it.

Again, it was Christmas Eve. It should have all been on.

This isn’t a complaint. Just an observation. I know there was turn over several years ago between one group that  had taken care of it and it then became I guess the City’s responsibly? But, regardless of who is responsible for it, I wish it could be brought back to its full beautiful capacity. There is so much potential there. It’s a place where kids can come with their parents and see Christmas. Young couples can have their photos taken there. Older couples like me and my wife can walk through there and remember when our kids where young and running from display to display marveling at it all! It’s a place of magic. The new Red door church that is on display there is awesome! That’s what the whole display needs. New life. The hands that crafted those wonderful original displays took pride in it and they need to be repaired. Maybe a small sign dedicated to the original carpenter of each. New ones need to be built.

If there is a problem during the night with vandals, or people getting rowdy, maybe HPD can assign a “Toy Soldier” to stand watch over it. They could have a Toy Soldier room built for him or her so they could keep watch and keep warm.

The “Christmas in the Park” is a wonderful Henderson tradition. I know my family has enjoyed it for a long time. I would like to see it continue and be “brand new” again. Bring back the magic. The Christmas Spirit. The youth in us all. I know I would be willing to help paint some of it if need be. Just holler.

What do you say Hendersonians?

R.I.P. Elly May Clampett

google.com, pub-2427795083793513, DIRECT, f08c47fec0942fa0

TMZ is reporting that Donna passed away this morning. She recently visited the Henderson Ky area back in May of 2014 at a local church.

From TMZ:

Donna Douglas — who famously portrayed Elly May Clampett on the legendary 60s TV series “The Beverly Hillbillies” — passed away Thursday at her home in Louisiana with friends and family by her side.

Douglas’ granddaughter confirmed the death to TMZ.

Donna starred on “The Beverly Hillbillies” for all nine seasons and even returned for the 1981 reunion TV movie.

Douglas also appeared in several other iconic TV series, including “Mister Ed,” “The Twilight Zone,” “The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet,” “Adam 12,” and “Route 66.”

She also co-starred with Elvis Presley in “Frankie and Johnny.”

Douglas filed two famous lawsuits over the years. In the 1990s, she sued Disney claiming they stole the idea for “Sister Act” from her. In 2011, she sued Mattel for making a Barbie doll with her likeness without her permission. She lost the “Sister Act” case and settled the Barbie case.

Donna was 81.

Elly May Clampett visited Henderson 05/18/2014…  Actually it was Donna Douglas that played the character “Elly May Clampett” on the 60’s sitcom “The Beverly Hillbillies”. She was invited to share and preach at a local church (Calvary Baptist) here. Tim Raber attended the service and took the photograph. Tim said that even at 80 years old she can still whistle like she did on the show! Henderson has been blessed to receive so many famous people over the years!
