Scott Weiland, Former Singer of Stone Temple Pilots, Dead at 48 | Billboard

The Bloomington, Minn. Police Department issued a statement at 11:15 p.m. PT detailing the events as such: On Dec. 3rd at 8:22 p.m., officers responded to a report of an unresponsive adult male in a recreational motor vehicle located in the 2200 block of Killebrew Drive. “Officers arrived and determined the adult male was deceased,” read the release, which did not identify the deceased. The address seems to correspond to a local Country Inn & Suites hotel.

The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office and the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office will continue investigating the death with updates to come.

Weiland turned 48 on Oct. 27. He long suffered from substance abuse issues.

Nirvana’s last song ever recorded 1994 “Heart Shaped Box”

google.com, pub-2427795083793513, DIRECT, f08c47fec0942fa0

I used to really despise the grunge movement and especially nirvana. The flannel shirts and monotone suicidal music never moved me. I actually hated it. Well, 20 years later I am starting to somewhat appreciate some of it. Kurt Cobain was just another local guy (in his area) that happened to catch the mythical “lightning in a bottle”. Unfortunately, we all know the outcome too well. He took his own life. He fought his demons and some say he won, some say he lost. I dunno, it’s not up to me to decide.

Anyway, supposedly here is the last song of the last show nirvana ever played. For such an iconic band at the time, an old airplane hanger that held barely 3,000 people. Is that fitting for “the end” of a movement?

David Lee Roth discusses Grunge, Gay, and Van Halen

google.com, pub-2427795083793513, DIRECT, f08c47fec0942fa0

From Buzzfeed.com

Roth blamed the grunge scene for turning fans off of his live show, saying, “Two words: Kurt Cobain. I went from playing to 12,000 people to 1,200. From arenas to casinos and state fairs and the local House Of Blues. That will cause you to reflect a lot more clearly on your values. Fun wasn’t seen as fun anymore.”

Roth shed some light on his romantic life after laughing off rumors that he’s been involved in a long-term gay relationship for years. “I’ve lived alone my whole adult life,” he said. “I’ve had girlfriends, I’ve had love affairs. Never longer than a year and a half. I’m the drunk who won the lottery, I’m going to be very difficult to convince of a lot of traditional things. I put off getting married when I found out, oh, you don’t really have to. I just saw somebody discussing this recently, I think Gloria Steinem — same thing as her life story. There’s a lot of us out there.”
