Hey Ford Center, why aern’t these bands coming to Evansville?

Ford Center may host killer concerts?

I have been watching the summer “rock” tours heat up and checking out the different bands’ touring dates and Evansville continues to not show up for the Ford Center. Well, unless you are an “easy” listening musical group or a country act. It’s almost like  having a Rock act come to Evansville is like finding Bigfoot in the middle of downtown? What gives? Yea I know I have asked this before…

Kiss and Motley Crue have teamed up for “THE TOUR” of the summer as they have called it. Kiss has been coming to Evansville regularly since 1976. Just about every tour they go out on they make sure that Evansville is included. One of Kiss’s guitarists, Vinnie Vincent played his last gig in the band in Evansville. Gene Simmons wrote “Calling Dr. Love” at the old Holiday Inn one night while staying in Evansville for a show. I looked at their tour dates… No Ford Center…No Evansville. The KISS/Motley Crue show is going to be all around this area but not stopping at the Ford Center. Anyone know why? Is it because the Ford center is smaller than Robert’s Stadium? Robert’s stadium seats a maximum of 12,732. The Ford Center seats a maximum of 11,000. Not a big difference there until you figure in ticket prices for each seat plus concession stand, merchandising, etc that is lost for those seats that aren’t there.

Let’s see who else is not coming to the Ford Center…

Oh that’s easy. Def Leppard, Poison and Lita Ford are heading out for the summer too. As I look over their tour dates guess what… Once again, No Ford Center, No Evansville. What about the Evansville fans? Well, you guys will just have to spend your dollars at a venue not near you to see these great acts… I am not going to rattle on and say “what gives again with the Ford Center.

Had enough? One more classic rock act that’s not coming either… Journey/Loverboy and Pat Benatar.

  1. //

This is the rock show we all need and want. KISS and Motley Crue live and breathe rock and roll, and to see either live is a remarkable experience. And throughout their careers, neither band has compromised musically. Is their best music behind them? Yes. Are tickets overexpensive? Hell yes. And both these bands have made some great music and put on some great shows. Anyone who even pretends to care about rock n’ roll music should see this show.

its simple chuck ask moondog..the promoters dont want to pay KISS,motley crue or more specificaly live nation their price.which is stupid because even if kiss wants 200000$ a night hiw much do you think that the ford center wouold make off a concert where in just ticket surcharges alone they would double that, not to take anything away from staind and godsmack but their kinda the equvilent of what hair bands where in 1994 …kind of looked back upon as silly.their going price isnt as expensive as hertige acts like crue or posion or kiss.basically all that crap ove building the arena with a better riging system was bullshit.nickle back and motley crue played here in 2006 both had state of the art lighting and sound systems in the past six years the tech hasnt changed that much if at all.so that was crap.its just not wanting to pay for big acts thats all
