Good bye Donna the Hippo…:(
I remember seeing her many times as a kid…I kinda hated that she stayed locked up all her life but i know she was taken well care of.

EVANSVILLE — After more than 50 years at Mesker Park Zoo & Botanic Garden, Donna the hippopotamus, believed to be the oldest such creature in captivity, will be euthanized Wednesday because of her failing health.
Zoo director Amos Morris confirmed the news Tuesday afternoon about the 60-year-old hippo, a fixture at the Evansville facility. Most hippos live to their 40s.
“The one thing I can offer Donna is a humane passing. And handling her with dignity and care. And have as painless a passing as possible,” Morris said. “I’m honored to do that for an animal that has been with the zoo for such a long time.”
