What Most People Think – Pastor Rocky

google.com, pub-2427795083793513, DIRECT, f08c47fec0942fa0

There may be as many opinions on who gets to go to heaven, as there are people. Here are a few of the most popular ones:

Everyone becomes an angel and goes to heaven when they die.
Whoever obeys the Ten Commandments will go to heaven.
Whoever goes to church will go to heaven.
Whoever does more good things than bad things will go to heaven.
Whoever believes in God will go to heaven.
Whoever has not killed anyone or done anything really bad will go to Heaven.
Everyone in a Christian household will go to heaven.

These opinions may seem OK, but they are all wrong.

“If none of these are correct, who gets to go to heaven?” you may ask. The answer is simple. The people who get to go to heaven are the ones who “get right with God” by beginning a relationship with Him through His Son Jesus Christ. Unfortunately, understanding how to “get right with God” became unclear as organized religion developed over the centuries. Although “religious people” have been telling others how to go to heaven for a long time, what they say can be distorted by their opinions. That is why it is vital to go back to the unchanging foundation—the Bible. For example, the apostle Paul refuted the false teachings of his day and told everyone how to “get right with God” is using the first century version of the Internet—a letter. This letter is recorded in the Bible as the book of Galatians, and is available for all of us to learn from today.

Although it will take a few minutes to explain how you can get to heaven, it is hoped you believe that learning how is worth a few minutes of your time.

What Do You Mean I Can’t Get To Heaven My Way?

Yes, a few people out there will use the “get right with God”, read everything, and still think they are OK just as they are.

Doesn’t everyone become an angel and go to heaven when they die?

This opinion is wrong for at least three reasons:

* Not all angels end up in heaven.
* People and angels are different.
* The Bible never states that people turn into angels.

Clarifying note: Certain angels that sinned have already been cast into hell (Read 2 Peter: 2-4). Being an angel is no guarantee of getting into heaven.  As a matter of fact, Satan was once an angel.  He was kicked out of heaven along with 1/3rd of the angels that rebelled with him against God.

Although the Bible describes some angels as having the appearance of “men” or having “human form,” the text makes it obvious that angels are not people. Further, no place in the Bible says that one member of creation changes into another. This is true for animals, people . . . and angels too. Nothing in creation changes from what it starts out to be. You probably make a pretty good human, and God will keep you that way.

Whoever obeys the Ten Commandments will go to heaven.

This opinion is wrong for at least three reasons:

* The Bible never states that obeying the Ten Commandments will get you into heaven.
* The Ten Commandments are about 0.06% of the Bible (Exodus chapter 20, verses 3-17—later repeated in Deuteronomy chapter 5, verses 7-21). If that was all people needed to know, the other 99.94% of the Bible would not have been written.
* Even the best people can not keep the Ten Commandments.

Clarifying Note: A number of people think they have always obeyed the Ten Commandments, a few questions typically reveal that they have broken most of them hundreds of times each. For example, most people broke the commandment “honor your father and your mother” at least once as a sassy child. People then realize that by the time they finished their teenage years, they broke that Commandment hundreds of times more. If your parents are still living and you ever criticize anything about them, you are still breaking that commandment. We could continue with examples from the other commandments, but the point has been made. People who examine themselves truthfully discover they have broken most of the Ten Commandments at some time in their lives—and if you break one once, you are lost.

Whoever goes to church will go to heaven. This opinion is wrong for at least three reasons.

* The Bible never states that attending church will get you into heaven.
* Since churches disagree with one another, how do you know you are in the correct one to get you into heaven?
* If going to a restaurant does not turn you into a hamburger, why do you think going to a church will turn you into a saint? (Yes, that was supposed to be humorous, but the concept is completely valid.)

Clarifying Note: There are people who go to church each week and promptly fall asleep. If they are openly bored with God, will He still invite them into heaven anyway? I do not think so. What if the church they are attending is actually a cult or a false religion? If that is the case, they are in trouble.

Whoever does more good things than bad things will go to heaven.

This is also called “balance scale” judgment, and is one of the most common wrong beliefs. This opinion is wrong for at least three reasons:

* The Bible never states that doing more good things than bad things will get you into heaven.
* God is so holy (perfect and sinless) that “all our righteousness are like filthy rags” to Him (see Isaiah chapter 64, verse 6). Do you think giving God a pile of filthy rags will cause Him to bring you into heaven? I don’t.
* Going to heaven (or “being saved”) is a free gift of God. He made it that way so nobody could boast that they made it to heaven by their own good deeds. (See Ephesians chapter 2, verses 8 and 9.)

Whoever believes in God will go to heaven.

This opinion is wrong for at least three reasons:

* The Bible never states that believing in God will get you into heaven, and confirms that such is the case in James chapter 2, verse 19.
* Satan (the Devil) believes God exists. In fact, he talks with God in Job chapters 1 and 2. Yet, he is not going to heaven—he is going to be cast into the lake of fire and brimstone (hell). This is recorded in Revelation chapter 20, verse 10.
* Angels that sinned were cast into hell—and they knew God (Read 2 Peter: 2-4).

Sorry, believing in God is not enough to allow you to enter heaven.

Whoever has not killed anyone or done anything “really bad” will go to heaven.

This opinion is wrong for at least three reasons:

* Although murdering someone is one of the best ways to help you go to hell, the Bible never states that not murdering anyone will get you into heaven. The same is true of not doing “lesser” crimes.
* In the Bible, there are at least two murderers that went to heaven: Moses and David.
* There are some people who never killed anyone (or did anything else “really bad”) who still went to hell (Hades). Read an example in Luke chapter 16, verses 19 to 31.

Everyone in a Christian household will go to heaven.

This opinion is wrong for at least three reasons:

* The Bible never states that being part of a specific family will allow you to go to heaven.
* You are not physically born a Christian like you are born a citizen of a country. To become a Christian and go to heaven (enter the kingdom of God) you have to be “born of water and the Spirit.” This is different. See John chapter 3, verses 1-8.
* The Bible states that some members of a family will go to heaven while others sleeping or working next to them will not (Matthew chapter 24, verses 40,41 and Luke chapter 17, verses 34,35).
*Being the member of a family is not the way to get into heaven.

OK, So Now What Do I Do?

Accept Jesus Christ as your Savior and turn your life over to him.  Otherwise, the grim truth is that when you die you will end up somewhere you never intended to end up, where there is “weeping and gnashing of teeth” forever and ever. How long is forever?  An eternity!

My Story – Christmas

google.com, pub-2427795083793513, DIRECT, f08c47fec0942fa0

I remember as a child, being from an extremely poor family, and the oldest of 8 children, and what Christmas meant to us.  It was all about Jesus Christ, the Son of God.  A Christmas Story of how He came into this world as a child as the son of a poor carpenter.  A story of how he lived a sinless life and then rejected by his own people.  A story of how far he came from glory to die on the cross for every mans’ sin.  Then, three days later, arose from the grave as he said he would.  He then ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of the Father. Christmas was a time to thank God for what we did have.

My mother cooked on a wood stove and we heated with coal.  During the winter, we would all sleep in the same room around the coal burning stove in an effort to stay warm.  Mom would wash clothes in a tub with a scrubbing board, we would heat water up and take turns taking a bath in another tub, we had our well water to drink, and of course, who could ever forget the outhouse?  We had no lights except for the coal burning lamps.  We even had to make up our own flour paste to patch holes in the walls.  Today, my daughters couldn’t even imagine a life style that way.  And, I thank God they can’t.  My brothers and sisters and I had very vivid imaginations.  We created the frizbie by throwing a hubcap, we invented the hola hoop by using bicycle tires we were able to find.

We didn’t realize that we were that poor until we went someplace.  Seeing the cars passing us by, the nice homes with electricity, Henderson Street lights, brought us to reality that we were at the very bottom of the human race.  Even at this, we did have one thing, my brothers, sisters, and I had love for one another. We believed that only God loved us.

Then one night on Christmas Eve, as we lay sleeping, we were awoken by a bunch of car horns.  A church brought us so much food and toys that made such an impact on our lives.  Much of the food I didn’t even know what it was.  Many of the toys I had never seen before. They brought in dolls that cried for my sisters, they brought trucks and cars for us boys.  There were even battery operated vehicles. They brought clothes for us all.  I have had many Christmas’ since that time.  However, this special Christmas I shall never forget.  The church members took time  during this busy season to show us we were important.  They sung Christmas Carols and told us about Jesus.  This church brought not only material things into our home, but they brought love and salvation to us.

Christmas is all about Jesus and the love he shows along with offering us salvation at no price to us.  For Jesus has already paid the price in full.  Today, we seem to have really gotten away the true intent of Christmas.  Christmas is so over commercialized and like everything else man has done, we have screwed up and forgotten all about God.

Thank you, God Bless, and Merry Christmas

Joke of the day submitted by David Burris

google.com, pub-2427795083793513, DIRECT, f08c47fec0942fa0

Early Dismissal

It is near the Christmas break of the school year. The students have turned in all their work and there is really nothing more to do. All the children are restless and the teacher decides to have an early dismissal.

Teacher: “Whoever answers the questions I ask, first and correctly can leave early today.”

Little Johnny says to himself “Good, I want to get outta here. I’m smart and will answer the question.”

Teacher: “Who said ‘Four Score and Seven years Ago’?”

Before Johnny can open his mouth, Susie says, “Abraham Lincoln.”

Teacher: “That’s right Susie, you can go home.”

Johnny is mad that Susie answered the question first.

Teacher: “Who said ‘I Have a Dream‘?”

Before Johnny can open his mouth, Mary says, “Martin Luther King.”

Teacher: “That’s right Mary, you can go.”

Johnny is even madder than before.

Teacher: “Who said ‘Ask not, what your country can do for you’?”

Before Johnny can open his mouth, Nancy says, “John F. Kennedy.”

Teacher: “That’s right Nancy , you may also leave.”

Johnny is boiling mad that he has not been able to answer any of the questions.

When the teacher turns her back, Johnny says, “I wish these bitches would keep their mouths shut!”

The teacher turns around: “NOW WHO SAID  THAT?”

Johnny: “TIGER WOODS!. CAN I GO NOW?”

Louise the Christmas “Doll”

google.com, pub-2427795083793513, DIRECT, f08c47fec0942fa0

Editor’s Note: As best I can tell, this is a work of fiction. I found it funny. Laugh a little. Don’t take life too seriously, you’ll never get out alive!

As a joke, my brother used to hang a pair of panty hose over his fireplace  before Christmas. He said all he wanted was for Santa to fill them.  But every Christmas morning, although Jay’s kids’ stockings were overflowed,  his poor pantyhose hung sadly empty.

One year I decided to make his dream come true. I put on sunglasses and  went in search of an inflatable love doll – what they call the life-sized kind. They don’t sell those things at  Wal-Mart! I had to go to an adult bookstore downtown.

If you’ve never  been in a X-rated store, don’t go. You’ll only confuse yourself. I was there an hour saying things like, “What does this do?” “You’re kidding me!”   “Who would buy that?” Finally, I made it to the inflatable doll section. I  wanted to buy a standard, uncomplicated doll that could also substitute as  a passenger in my truck so I could use the car pool lane during rush hour.

Finding what I wanted was difficult. Love dolls come in many different models. The top of the line, according to the side of the box, could do  things I’d only seen in a book on animal husbandry. I settled for “Lovable  Louise.” She was at the bottom of the price scale. To call Louise a “doll” took a huge leap of imagination.

On Christmas Eve, with the help of an old bicycle pump, Louise came to life. My sister-in-law was in on the plan and let me in during the wee morning hours. Long after Santa had come and gone, I filled the dangling pantyhose with Louise’s pliant legs and bottom. I also ate some cookies and drank what remained of a glass of milk on a nearby tray. I went home and giggled for a couple of hours.

The next morning my brother called to say that Santa had been to his house and left a present that had made him VERY happy but had left the dog confused. She would bark, start to walk away, then come back and bark some more. We all agreed that Louise should remain in her panty hose so the rest of the family could admire her when they came over for the traditional Christmas dinner.

My grandmother noticed Louise the moment she walked in the door. “What the hell is that?” she asked. My brother quickly explained, “It’s a doll…”

“Who would play with something like that?” Granny snapped. I had several candidates in mind, but kept my mouth shut. “Where are her clothes?” Granny continued.

“Boy, that turkey sure smells nice, Gran,” Jay said, trying to steer her into the dining room.

But Granny was relentless. “Why doesn’t she have any teeth?”

Again, I could have answered, but why would I? It was Christmas and no one wanted to ride in the back of the ambulance saying, “Hang on Granny! Hang on!”

My grandfather, a delightful old man with poor eyesight, sidled up to me and said, “Hey, who’s the naked gal by the fireplace?”

I told him she was Jay’s friend. A few minutes later I noticed Grandpa by the mantel, talking to Louise. Not just talking, but actually flirting. It was then that we realized this might be Grandpa’s last Christmas at home.

The dinner went well. We made the usual small talk about who had died, who was dying, and who should be killed, when suddenly Louise made a noise that sounded a lot like my father in the bathroom in the morning. Then she lurched from the panty hose, flew around the room twice, and fell in a heap in front of the sofa.

The cat screamed. I passed cranberry sauce through my nose, and Grandpa ran across the room, fell to his knees, and began administering mouth to mouth resuscitation. My brother fell back over his chair and wet his pants and Granny threw down her napkin, stomped out of the room, and sat in the car.

It was indeed a Christmas to treasure and remember. Later in my brother’s garage, we conducted a thorough examination to decide the cause of Louise’s collapse. We discovered that Louise had suffered from a hot ember to the back of her right thigh. Fortunately, thanks to a wonder drug called duct tape, we restored her to perfect health.

Louise went on to star in several bachelor party movies. I think Grandpa still calls her whenever he can get out of the house.

Unquestionable Faith

google.com, pub-2427795083793513, DIRECT, f08c47fec0942fa0

And there was a Great War in Heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon (Lucifer), and the dragon fought and his angels, and prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent called the Devil, and Satan, which deceives the whole world. The devil was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.” Lucifer became Satan, and the fallen angels became Demons. Many ask, “Why didn’t God just destroy Satan?” The answer is, Sin had entered the world.  Sin had entered into the very nature of man through Adams transgression (in Genesis, in the Garden of Eden, Adam ate of the forbidden tree, The Tree of Knowledge). For God to destroy Satan, he would also have had to destroy the man he loved. But God had a better way. He had a way of Redemption. And Christ the Redeemer was on His way!

Hell was not made for man. Hell was prepared for the devil and his angels. But those who do not receive Christ as their Lord and Savior will be sent to Hell, and have their part in the lake of fire. Satan is “the god of this world” he ” has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the Gospel of the Glory of Christ” ( 2 Corinthians 4;4)

One becomes a believer (Christian) by Faith.  Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God (Romans 10: 17). Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen (Hebrews 11: 1).

The one true living god convicts our heart.  It is through faith we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior.  Once we accept Jesus into our hearts, all things become new and the old is passed away.  All our past sins are forgiven because Jesus died on the Cross-of Calvary and the blood he shed makes us pure as snow and holy before God the Father.

During your Christian Walk, each day Satan will attack you.  He is a liar and deceiver.  He will place doubts in your mind such as, “What makes you think you are saved, you know you want that alcohol or drugs, look at what you have done in the past and you think God is going to forgive you, you are just trash and totally worthless, etc”.  Lost family members or past friends may make fun of you.  Pray for your lost family members and find new Christian friends.

The Christian faith is about faith in the resurrected Jesus. Jesus of Nazareth, who lived historically on the earth 2000 years ago, made a definite impact on the people of Israel through his teaching and healing ministry. But it is his resurrection and continued intervention in the lives of His followers that has meant that today He has hundreds of millions who believe in Him and trust Him. Today the Holy Spirit is working all over the earth to reveal Jesus to people in different ways, primarily through the Scriptures of the Holy Bible as they are preached and read.

Answer the conviction that God has placed upon your heart.  Have faith that there is one true living God, that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, his death on the Cross Of Calvary, that he has been resurrected and now sits at the right hand of the Father in heaven.   Believe that when Jesus stated hanging from the cross, “IT IS FINISHED”, that his blood cleansed us and made us holy unto God.

You can become a Christian and be given eternal life based upon a child-like faith.  All you have to do is truly accept Jesus into your heart.  Mean it with all sincerity. The following prayer will help you:

God, I know I am a sinner, and I do not deserve your love or forgiveness.  But I know your only begotten son, Jesus, shed his blood and died on the cross for me.  Jesus, I ask you into my heart now.  I need you for I can’t make it on my own.  I need for you to cleanse me and make me whole.  I turn my heart and my life over to You.  Lead me, guide me, and let me become a child of Yours Father God.  Thank you for making me clean and whole.  In Jesus’ name I pray.  Amen.

Peace be unto you.  Now that you have turned your life over to God, let the earthly things such as alcohol, drugs, prostitution, bad attitudes, hatred, wrath, lusts, and whatever else your demon may be, leave it at the alter.  Don’t pick it back up.  Let God handle it and guide you and lead you unto righteousness.

Eddie Trunk’s Rant about KISS not being Inducted into the RnRHOF

Kiss & The Hall Of SHAME!

12/15/09: My rage this morning is beyond belief! Why I care so much I don’t know? Maybe because I am a music fan my whole life and have always fought for the bands I love to get the respect (and airplay) they deserve. The R&R Hall Of Shame as I have called it has really lived up to that billing lately, but maybe never more so than what was revealed this morning. You see after being IGNORED for 10 years and not even being on the ballot, someone at the Hall voting group woke up this year and realized there was a band called KISS, that love them or hate them was one of the biggest bands in the world and influenced millions and sold millions of albums. Finally after being ignored for a decade, they were on the ballot, something many thought they would never see. Surely they would be a shoe in now that they made the ballot right? Well the R&R Hall Of SHAME gave us Kiss fans and the band themselves the ultimate diss when they did NOT induct them this year. This is mind blowing and insulting as not only a Kiss fan, but a music fan. This bullshit elitist group of idiots has gone way to far this time. Can you imagine looking over the list of people that they are putting in and saying they deserve it more than KISS?!?!? So offensive and clueless its really mind blowing! The people that vote on this are the same people that probably made fun of me for being a Kiss fan and tried to beat me up after school. I’m stunned, but I shouldn’t be. Really, consider these jerkoffs where the same people that made Van Halen wait until it was two former members that were on stage in the debacle overdue induction. The same people that made Sabbath wait so long that Ozzy said take me off the ballot at one point. SABBATH, who invented a genre! Even when they get it right they fuck it up and are so disrespectful at the end of the day to these artists and hard music. This one is the ULTIMATE disses in a long line of them. I realize this post is probably filled with grammar and misspelled stuff (and curses), but I am in such a rage a can’t be bothered. You get the idea! Gee I wonder why the NYC spot they opened for the Hall just closed? Can’t wait to see the ratings for the TV broadcast on Fuse. Mark my words, they will be AWFUL! Good luck to them. Makes me sick. Someone needs to wake the fuck up and as rock fans we must ignore and not support in any way this Hall or what they do until they get it right! When James Hetfield stood on stage and was inducted he made a plea in his speach to have some real rock bands long ignored finally recognized. Something that was super cool, ballsy and truthful. Well I guess these idiots won’t even listen to their own inductees! Disgusting!! Again, this Kiss insult is the ulitimate diss to the band and it’s fans, but it is not the only one. ALICE COOPER, RUSH, JUDAS PRIEST, THIN LIZZY, IRON MAIDEN, DIO, DEF LEPPARD, NEVER ON THE BALLOT OVER TEN YEARS ELIGIBLE. In the non metal world where is Boston, Yes, Chicago, Bon Jovi, the list goes on and on. If I were Kiss I’d pull a Sex Pistols and not show up and not give them one item to put in the Hall after this. Who needs them? Time for the artists and fans to take some control over this ongoing incredible injustice. Artists who are in have told me privately it’s a crock of shit! Everyone knows I am a life long Kiss fan and supporter of all eras, and even though I am not a fan of the band using Ace and Peter makeup on Tommy and Eric, in my heart I will always be a Kiss fan. Most people don’t agree or love everything their favorite groups do, especially when they have been around almost 40 years! But you don’t have to be a die hard or a Kiss fan at all to see how absurd this is. I have been so vocal about it for years on radio and TV and I will not stop. But if I’m Kiss, or any of the legends dissed by these assholes, when the time does come, and they need YOUR FANS to spend their money to keep this thing interesting, and finally annoint you into their little club I’d tell them to go to hell! Enough is enough. More to come on this as I have some ideas. But I urge all real rock fans to boycott the R&R Hall Of SHAME and I hope some of the artists do as well. When Metallica was nice enough to fly me to their induction this year I attended out of respect to them, but I did not step foot in the actual Hall. One more thing, I know there are tons of artists totally deserving in the Hall. This is not about or against them. But when a band like Kiss is ignored for 10 years, then does NOT go in when they finally get on, AND you consider who is in, IT IS A JOKE!

Kiss fans can celebrate the bands music and legacy the right way as I do my annual Original Merry KISSmas Special on the radio this year. I have been doing this since 1992. It is the one time all year I dedicate an entire show to nothing but the music of Kiss. I started doing this out of frustration for how little attention was paid to the MUSIC of Kiss and it seems this years show is more timely than ever in light of this recent news. Since the show falls on Christmas night live this year I pre recorded it a few days ago so I was unaware of this news when I got it. Probably better off as I would have spent the whole 3 hours screaming! Instead this years show will be something I have never done. One song from every Kiss studio album in the order they came out, and a few extras at the end. No solo (except ’78 albums), but one song each from “Kiss” through Sonic Boom in sequence. A fun way to sample a track from all of the bands albums and hear the changes over the decades and lineups. This show airs for the first time on my flagship Q104.3 in NYC Christmas night starting at 11PM EST. It can be heard live online at

www.q1043.com

for US IP addresses only. The show then airs on affiliate stations the next weekend and you can hear it, and all my Q104 shows On Demand on this site if you are a member . Membership is only $40 a year and comes with many more benefits. A great gift for the holidays! Merry KISSmas my friends, do not give up the fight, and NEVER support the R&R Hall Of SHAME until they get a clue!
