LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – Hollywood actor Dennis Hopper, best known for directing and starring in the 1969 cult classic “Easy Rider,” died on Saturday from complications of prostate cancer, a friend of the actor said. Hopper was 74.

The hard-living screen star died at his home in the coastal Los Angeles suburb of Venice at 8:15 a.m. PDT (1515 GMT), surrounded by family and friends, the friend, Alex Hitz, told Reuters. In a wildly varied career spanning more than 50 years, Hopper appeared alongside his mentor James Dean in “Rebel Without a Cause” and “Giant” in the 1950s and played maniacs in such films as “Apocalypse Now,” “Blue Velvet” and “Speed.”

Heaven And Hell With Rob Halford To Appear At Ronnie James Dio Memorial Gig?

google.com, pub-2427795083793513, DIRECT, f08c47fec0942fa0

( From Metal Music News )

Speculation is growing regarding memorial concerts in tribute for the late Ronnie James Dio. Classic Rock Magazine is reporting that two major concerts are being planned to celebrate the life of the late Ronnie James Dio.

Details are sketchy at present, but what is for sure is that the gigs are going to be dubbed Ronnie James Dio ‘Stand Up And Shout’ Memorial Concerts.

They will take place in London and Los Angeles in Autumn 2010.

Speculation is mounting that the shows will feature the surviving members of Heaven And Hell – Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Vinny Appice – with Judas Priest’s Rob Halford filling in for Dio on vocals. But we must stress this has not been confirmed.

However, as Halford has been deputized for both Dio and Ozzy Osbourne in Black Sabbath before, a precedent has already been set.

Remember my friends, our freedom was bought with a price. Many Men and Women have given their time and many thier lives for us.

Let’s remember them. This weekend is far more than just furniture sales and cook outs…

Stop the Presses…Willie Nelson has cut his hair!!

google.com, pub-2427795083793513, DIRECT, f08c47fec0942fa0

Wow, the pigtails were part of the red headed stranger look and now they are gone…More on it here..

chuck

AUSTIN, Texas – Country music fans have come to expect a little eccentricity from legendary crooner Willie Nelson, but he pulled off a real shocker this time.

He cut his hair.

“Oh Noooooo!,” wrote one fan who saw a picture of Nelson’s new do on the website of Nashville TV and radio personality Jimmy Carter. Nelson’s waist-deep, reddish pigtails have long been one of the singer-songwriter’s signature features. But spokeswoman Elaine Schock said Nelson, who’s been hanging loose in Hawaii, got his hair cut in the past couple of weeks. She said the Texas-born performer didn’t make a big fuss about the makeover, but she thought he might have grown tired of dealing with long locks. “There’s a lot of maintenance,” she said.

Amityville Horror House for sale

google.com, pub-2427795083793513, DIRECT, f08c47fec0942fa0

Whether this was one of the greatest hoax’s pulled off  or one heck of a real haunting…The movie scared the hell out of me …I saw it on Cable TV a few weeks ago and I still couldn’t watch it…creepy, very creepy..

chuck

AMITYVILLE, N.Y. – The house made famous in the 1979 film “The Amityville Horror” is up for sale in New York — ghosts not included.

The five-bedroom Dutch Colonial went on the market Monday for $1.15 million.

The Oscar-nominated film is based on the story of the Lutz family’s brief stay in the house in 1975 after six members of the DeFeo family were shot and killed as they slept in the home. Eldest son Ronald DeFeo Jr. was convicted of the murders.

The crime spawned a book and a series of movies that chronicled various supernatural horrors, including visions of walls oozing slime, moving furniture and a visit from a demonic pig named Jodie. The original film stars James Brolin and Margot Kidder.

Neighbors say gawkers still occasionally come by, mostly on Halloween.
