Zakk offers young Gus some advice…and talks about being hammered, pub-2427795083793513, DIRECT, f08c47fec0942fa0

Zakk: I love Ozzy, I always said he’s the coolest guy, you know, my father and Ozzy. But it’s like if Randy Rhoads was still doing QUIET RIOT, the same thing would have happened, or if Jake [E. Lee] was still doing BADLANDS and at the same time playing with Ozzy it would have sounded like a Ozzy record; if Eric Clapton was still doing CREAM while playing with John Mayall, then everything would sound like CREAM. At the end of the day it’s a compliment if you say everything started sounding like BLACK LABEL. Put it this way, I love Oz, so I always got his back whatever he wants to do. I support Gus [G.] and I hope he does great; he’s an amazing player and I wish him all the best. What’s your advice to him?

Zakk: He’s an awesome guitar player and a sweet guy, really cool dude. If he has a quarter of the amount of fun I had, that’s tons! I just want him to have loads of good times as I had.

Avenged SevenFold is headed to the top, pub-2427795083793513, DIRECT, f08c47fec0942fa0

Nightmare”, the fifth album from Orange County, California’s AVENGED SEVENFOLD, is likely to sell between 160,000 and 175,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at the top of next week’s The Billboard 200 chart, according to industry web site Hits Daily Double. The estimate was based on one-day sales reports compiled after the record arrived in stores on Tuesday (July 27).

AVENGED SEVENFOLD‘s self-titled fourth album sold 94,000 copies in its first week of release back in November 2007, nearly three times what its 2005 effort, “City of Evil”, sold in its biggest week on the chart.

The official video for “Nightmare”, the album’s first single and title track, premiered on MTV2,, and on July 17 and became the second most popular video on YouTube, racking up more than 1,280,865 views last week. The “lyric” video that premiered via YouTube has racked up three million views.

“Nightmare” has sold more than 145,000 digital singles and is currently at No. 3 on Mediabase‘s Active Rock radio chart.

“Nightmare” was completed after the death of drummer Jimmy “The Rev” Sullivan, who passed away last December following an overdose of prescription drugs and alcohol. Guitarist Zacky Vengeance told The Pulse of Radio how the band got through the making of the record after losing their friend. “You know, you carry on knowing that there’s something so much more important than yourself to deliver, to millions of fans across the world, to all your friends, and to yourself,” he said. “To put out this piece of music that he helped write with us is extremely, extremely difficult and I don’t wish it on anybody. But I think the end result is even that much more spectacular because it brought us all closer and we did, you know, him justice.”

The band recruited DREAM THEATER drummer Mike Portnoy to play on the new album and all the band’s 2010 tour dates.

Tommy Lee Talks “Methods Of Mayhem”, pub-2427795083793513, DIRECT, f08c47fec0942fa0 editor Rick Florino recently conducted an interview with MÖTLEY CRÜE drummer and METHODS OF MAYHEM mastermind Tommy Lee. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow below. What inspired you to bring METHODS OF MAYHEM back now?

Tommy Lee: 2000 was the first album, and now it’s 2010! [Laughs] Every once in awhile, I’ve got to get my anything-goes-hat on and go for it. That’s what METHODS OF MAYHEM means to me. Anything goes stylistically. Whether it’s having a bunch of guest stars on the record like the first album or this one. I made this record with the whole world! Well, that aligns with your boundless mentality.

Tommy Lee: Totally, man! If I would’ve known how much work was involved in doing this, I probably wouldn’t have done it knowing that, but I’m glad I did it because it’s sick. People sent in the wildest stuff from all over the globe. You’re going to trip out when you hear it. It’s really a bitching record.

Are you an Ant or a Grasshopper? What about your friends??, pub-2427795083793513, DIRECT, f08c47fec0942fa0

and how does this affect you??? This is a life lesson…no notes…your taking the test already…

The Ant and the Grasshopper

IN a field one summer’s day a Grasshopper was hopping about, chirping and singing to its heart’s content. An Ant passed by, bearing along with great toil an ear of corn he was taking to the nest. 1 “Why not come and chat with me,” said the Grasshopper, “instead of toiling and moiling in that way?” 2 “I am helping to lay up food for the winter,” said the Ant, “and recommend you to do the same.” 3 “Why bother about winter?” said the Grasshopper; “we have got plenty of food at present.” But the Ant went on its way and continued its toil. When the winter came the Grasshopper had no food, and found itself dying of hunger, while it saw the ants distributing every day corn and grain from the stores they had collected in the summer. Then the Grasshopper knew: “IT IS BEST TO PREPARE FOR THE DAYS OF NECESSITY.”

Joke of the day :), pub-2427795083793513, DIRECT, f08c47fec0942fa0

After becoming very
frustrated with the attitude of one of the shopkeepers,
the young blonde declared, ‘Well, then, maybe I’ll just
go out and catch my own alligator and get a pair of
alligator shoes for free!’ The shopkeeper replied with
a sly smile, ‘Well, little lady, why don’t you go on
and give it a try?’ The blonde headed off to the swamp,
determined to catch an alligator. Later in the day, as the
shopkeeper was driving home, he spotted the same young
woman standing waist deep in the murky water, shotgun
in hand.

As he brought his car to a stop, he
saw a huge 9-foot gator swimming rapidly toward
her. With lightning reflexes, the blonde took aim, shot
the creature and hauled it up onto the slippery bank.
Nearby were 7 more dead gators all lying belly up. The
shopkeeper stood on the bank, watching in silent
amazement as the blonde struggled mightily and barely
managed to flip the gator onto its
Then, rolling her eyes heavenward, she screamed
in frustration. ….
