Making Money In Music-What is it like to be able to play

What’s it like to you. Suppose you are sitting with someone and you are trying to explain what it’s like and how it makes you feel. Could you do it? I am not looking for things like “because it feels good” or ” it makes people happy”. No, let’s go further down deep in your very soul and tell us what its like. Your inner being, the Spirit part. How does music affect you? Do you make a circuit when the magic happens? Can you feel it coursing through your veins?

One way I try to explain it is like the Movie “Powder”. It’s all encompassing. We are always chasing the lightning… We don’t always capture it but when we do it’s like the Universe and everything in it are “one” and complete.

When I listen to music I can feel it in my body. When I am playing guitar it is moving from my left hand to my right. It’s like I am hooked up to a loop of electricity that completes me. Turn off the music and it unplugs me. I am lost without it. A ship without sails or wind to move it with…

Ford Center may host killer concerts?

I have been watching the summer “rock” tours heat up and checking out the different bands’ touring dates and Evansville continues to not show up for the Ford Center. Well, unless you are an “easy” listening musical group or a country act. It’s almost like  having a Rock act come to Evansville is like finding Bigfoot in the middle of downtown? What gives? Yea I know I have asked this before…

Kiss and Motley Crue have teamed up for “THE TOUR” of the summer as they have called it. Kiss has been coming to Evansville regularly since 1976. Just about every tour they go out on they make sure that Evansville is included. One of Kiss’s guitarists, Vinnie Vincent played his last gig in the band in Evansville. Gene Simmons wrote “Calling Dr. Love” at the old Holiday Inn one night while staying in Evansville for a show. I looked at their tour dates… No Ford Center…No Evansville. The KISS/Motley Crue show is going to be all around this area but not stopping at the Ford Center. Anyone know why? Is it because the Ford center is smaller than Robert’s Stadium? Robert’s stadium seats a maximum of 12,732. The Ford Center seats a maximum of 11,000. Not a big difference there until you figure in ticket prices for each seat plus concession stand, merchandising, etc that is lost for those seats that aren’t there.
