Black Sabbath tour has been downgraded to “Ozzy and Friends”…

google.com, pub-2427795083793513, DIRECT, f08c47fec0942fa0

Damn what a disappointment…I guess even though its not stated in the press release I think any time a certain someone has anything to do with it they screw up what should just naturally happen. Black Sabbath was four guys making History… And what a history that is.

Here is a small piece of the article from Spin.com

Black Sabbath Reunion Tour no more: In the face of internal struggles, including guitarist Tony Iommi’s cancer treatment and drummer Bill Ward’s continuing contract dispute, the pioneering metal quartet have rebranded their upcoming reunion tour with a somewhat depressing “Ozzy and Friends” banner. According to a report from the Guardian, “and Friends” will include Iommi and Sabbath bassist Geezer Butler, as well as Ozzy Osbourne/Black Label Society guitarist Zakk Wylde and Slash (the latter of whom may be doing a little reuniting of his own with Guns N’ Roses later this spring).

With the new deal, all world tour dates Black Sabbath had been planning have been replaced by a paltry 15-date run; five gigs were officially cancelled and now the only official Black Sabbath-billed date still on the books is the U.K.’s Download Festival, which runs June 8-10, and even that will be played sans Ward. Seriously, a tour called “Almost Black Sabbath Reunion Tour” might be less disappointing than another Ozzy-not-Sabbath-branded string of dates.

Otto the Comic ” on Jerry Lewis, The King of all Comedians

google.com, pub-2427795083793513, DIRECT, f08c47fec0942fa0

Jerry Lewis. He’s my comic inspiration. He was just HIM-self,  Always! I recommend “The Bell-Boy” , and “The Nutty Professor” to all your readers… *** here’s what is really cool about comedy in America… There are SO many funny people out there working  and out there TRYING to “work it” . There are extremely funny people all over, not just who you might see on TV…

So I suggest the Kick Acts readers to find an “open Mic ” comedy show  and go watch !!!! It will be way more entertaining than watching TV at home and most likely it will be FREE to get in… Try to find one that is NOT at the local comedy club. Check out a “bar-comedy-open mic” instead.  Have a drink or two  and watch how comedy develops… If I’m wrong , you can just leave…no harm / no foul… But if you do see someone who is funny,PLEASE !!! walk across the room  and tell them… THAT will make someone’s day / night / week /and even month.. Ok thanks  and keep those attitudes on fantastic!

You can reach Otto Here 🙂

Interview with Ron from Ronamaker Artistic Concepts !!

google.com, pub-2427795083793513, DIRECT, f08c47fec0942fa0

Hello Ron and welcome to Kickacts.com. Tell us a little bit about yourself and what you do.

Hey there! Well obviously my real name is Ron, my friends call me Ronnie. I got the nickname Ronamaker when I was 18. Not really sure how either, it has just stuck over the years. I’m 34 years old and have lived in Indy my whole life. I’ve been into anything artistic ever since I can remember. I love and appreciate all forms of art. I’m currently trying to get my degree in media arts. I realized I was pretty good at it when I started promoting my band over the internet and that’s where Ronamaker Artistic Concepts came from. So now I offer logos, flyers, posters, promos for musicians, DJ’s, small businesses, and really anyone who needs a creative concept to promote themselves. I also am a freelance photographer. I’m currently booking models, musicians, and anyone else who wants look good for the camera. I’m also a big supporter of the local music scene as I have been in it since 1996. So I started a site on here called Indy Industrial. I love industrial music and want to find more of it in Indiana, but I will promote anyone on my site if you’re local and trying to go somewhere in the music biz. Anyway, there’s a bit about who Ronamaker is. Thanks Kick Acts for supporting and promoting some of the cooler things in Indiana!

When your shooting a band’s promo photos, what is some advice you would give to them before they so up for the shoot?

As far as a photo shoot goes for musicians you really need to know what image you want to portray. If you want it to be more raw then I can shoot you while you’re playing. If you’re going for a certain image then you need to dress the part and then we can find a location that goes along with your idea. I will always have some input as to what I think would look better, but ultimately its up to the artists on how they want to look. I also offer special effects makeup if you want to go that route as well. The correct image can go a long way with fans. Hopefully the music can back it up. Haha! A lot of what I’ve said for a photography shoot with musicians also applies to models as well. They always have an idea of what they want, I usually will put my spin on it and BAM! you have some beautiful and artistic photos as the final product.

Do you have a worst photo session story?

Well I wouldn’t say I’ve had a total horror story of a photo shoot. Although trying to work with kids is not the easiest way to take pictures. I had a mother and daughter shoot here recently. Everything started out pretty good, the little girl was smiling and being cute….that lasted about 15 minutes. She got bored with it real quick. wouldn’t smile, started sticking her tongue out at the camera, closing her eyes, trying to slide down off of the chair. Whining and crying. Finally the mother had enough of it and beat the little girls butt right there in front of me. So now she definitely wasn’t gonna smile. Her mom is yelling at her telling her to smile or she’s gonna get it again only worse. So you can imagine the fake smiles I was getting after that episode. Her hair was all messed up from trying to get away from her mom, eyes all red from crying. I finally just said let’s re-schedule because this obviously isn’t working. I haven’t heard back from them since….thank god. HA

Whats the most outrageous or craziest thing you have “shot” to date?

Well….I had wanted to do a bondage/S&M kind of shoot with 2 women. Nothing seriously crazy, just some sexy, sensual black and white photos. Leather, latex, collars, etc… Wanted to show the darker side of sexy. So I’m taking pictures, getting really good shots too. The further we got into the shoot the girls were really enjoying themselves. Well one thing lead to another and the “toys” were broke out. The leather and latex came off and I’m right there in the middle taking pictures of all this. Needless to say these pictures were never published. GREAT photo shoot though. Lol

Do you have any other hobbies beside graphics and photography?

I believe I mentioned before I’m a musician as well. I’ve been playing in the local scene since 1996. I’ve been a couple local bands; Divine Fornication and iSin. I play bass guitar and sing back-ups. I try to be a promoter too. I just push the shows that are already out there. Trying to raise awareness of the talent that Indy has to offer. I do all of that through Indy Industrial. I also work a full time job and I’m a full time single parent. Not that those are hobbies, but I figured that they were noteworthy. Lol
Oh and I enjoy anything that has to do with zombies. I love the Left4Dead video games. My son and I tear those games up!

If someone is wanting to get a hold of you do you have some contact numbers and email address and a website?

You can get a hold of me through my email, ronamaker@gmail.com or at my personal number, (317) 331-9473. I prefer to use my email. I am currently working on my website. Should have it up an running within the month. Then of course you can contact me through there.http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100003049877677 It will be equipped with PayPal and it will have all of my work on there so you can see what I have to offer. I will also have package deals that you can choose from depending on what you’re looking for.

Review: Theatre Workshop of Owensboro Kills it with Sweeney Todd

google.com, pub-2427795083793513, DIRECT, f08c47fec0942fa0

As first published in the Green Gazette 🙂

http://www.facebook.com/pages/Green-Gazette-KY/167798635931

review: Theatre Workshop of Owensboro Kills it with Sweeney Todd
Entertainment Desk – Steve C. GG Staff

Owensboro (GG) – Stephen Sondheim is a sadist. That he is a talented-as-all-get-out artist and is considered one of the true giants of theatre is a given, but if you have ever tried to tackle any of his work, you know what I mean. His work is considered to be some of the finest theatre of the modern age but, make no mistake… It is HARD stuff to pull off.

So, when Theatre Workshop of Owensboro announced that they were going to stage this production, quite a few, including this reviewer, worried that it was just too darn hard for a community theatre, even a good one, to produce. In a nutshell, we were wrong.

TWO has some incredibly talented people within her ranks, plenty of them, but doing Sweeney justice requires more than talent. It takes some top-shelf vocal CHOPS to get it done.

Quite a few TWO regulars were among the cast. First, Thad Mayhugh as Sweeney was fantastic. Anyone who is familiar with Thad’s work would expect him to do a wonderful job, and he did. He is a very talented vocalist and as fine an actor as you will ever find in community theatre. He really should be a well-paid professional actor somewhere. He is the Education Coordinator at TWO and they are extremely lucky to have him.

Lynn Roberson as Mrs. Lovett was alternately charming and diabolical in her role. Her real-life husband David was vocal coach and played Pirelli. The Robersons each performed all of their roles very well and I was particularly amazed at David’s vocal range in the impossibly demanding Pirelli role.
The balance of the regulars, particularly the veteran actors also did excellent work. George Fleming as Judge Turpin was wonderful, his duets with Sweeney were as good as it gets on any stage, at any level, anywhere. Period.

Josh San Miguel and Jeremy Scoggins were both perfectly cast as young Tobias and the despicable Beadle Bamford. Those who held down the considerable work of the Company also rose to the occasion in fine fashion. As I stated before, the vocal skills required to sing this score cannot be overstated and they did an outstanding job.

The orchestra in a production like this is always faced with a tall order. There is never enough rehearsal time and even finding the musicians to perform in a show like this can be a demanding task. All in all, they complimented the cast well.

Fans of TWO should already be aware of Fred Eiras and his previous work as a set designer/builder and he did not disappoint with Sweeney. This was a magical set and it definitely transported the audience into Sweeney’s grisly world.

Lastly, I want to acknowledge the best part of the production for me. There were 3 totally unexpected ‘finds’ in this show. First is a newbie for TWO in Grant Shepherd. He was an ideal Anthony. He is young and was unknown to TWO prior to auditioning, but he stepped into Anthony’s shoes and filled them well. He will most certainly be welcomed back. Lauren Brown Calhoun (Beggar Woman-Lucy) is no stranger to the stage but has been understandably devoting more time as Mom to her young children than gracing a stage somewhere with her amazing voice. I hope the rest of the cast will not be offended, certainly no offense is meant… but, to hear the sheer quality of her incredible voice rise up, out of an otherwise very fine company, and really shine was an unexpected and absolute joy.

Speaking of unexpected and absolute joys… I have known Emily King, who played Johanna, for several years. She’s a good friend. I have known her to be a fine actress and have seen her in several productions. I had no idea however, she had such a wonderful voice. During the opening night performance, as the entire cast was hitting their marks so well and Stephen Sondheim’s Sweeney Todd was taking shape on the TWO Opryhouse stage… I was no longer being drawn in by the show, I was now all the way IN… Then, Miss King’s hidden voice was unwrapped like a gift hidden for far too long under the Christmas Tree and took the entire show to another level. Not bad for a show where the were killing people all over the place. Sure as heck killed me.

My hat is off to the entire TWO company, Brian Luedloff’s direction with Kevin Clark’s and Pablo Gallestegui’s assistance, was spot on. Having done such a fine job with Sweeney, I would venture to say that this company is capable of doing virtually any show they set their collective minds to do. I’ll buy a ticket and you should too. You have an incredible theatre company in your midst, they deserve no less than the complete support of their local arts community. Don’t be the last ones to find out about TWO.
