Growing older staying young…What about you?

After a couple of days of the site being down due to technical difficulties…We’re back!

c164dd78576e177adcd7a3b4988048a6The last birthday I had. Something changed. A setting changed on my “dial” of life. It was another “big birthday”. I actually wouldn’t had known it was but I constantly get reminded of it. Some of my close friends ribbed me over it. But I am my own worst enemy as they say too.  I have these quirks. We all have them. I watch movies like everyone else. I like older movies. Sci-Fi movies, Westerns, Classic movies. Old black and white movies too. Audrey Hepburn, Sophie Lauren, Raquel Welch, and a young Betty Garble to name a few starlets… The list goes on. All those hot and classy ladies in a time before my time. But what do I do while I watch these classic movies? I hit “info” on the remote and I look at the date of when it made and do the math. For instance. “War of the Worlds”. It’s Sci-Fi but still it’s a romantic movie. It has monsters from outer space and the good guy gets the girl in the end. It was made in 1953. So I go in my head “1953”, that’s twelve years before I was born. “Flash Gordon” was on recently. Ok. 1980. I was 15 at the time. Over the weekend I watched “How Green was my Valley”. It had a very young Roddy McDowell in it. It was made in 1941. So in my head I go…1941. That’s 24 years before I was born. And so on and so on. It’s a stupid habit but I have done it forever. Don’t even ask why I want the television volume to be on an even setting…

I remember distinctly turning 13 and didn’t want to. I was leaving “12” behind.  It was also the year Elvis died by the Read more…

Happy Birthday Alice Cooper!

google.com, pub-2427795083793513, DIRECT, f08c47fec0942fa0

Alice Cooper - From The Inside - FrontIt’s Alice Cooper‘s birthday today. The original King of Shock Rock. This first song is from his 1978 album “From the Inside”. As far as I am concerned it was his best body of work. A masterpiece. Not one bad or lame song on it. I remember listening to this love song “How you gonna see me now” and the whole album over and over again in my room. I would stare at the album gate fold (which folded out like doors). Inside the album was a photograph of a sanitarium and all the characters that are on the album in the songs are presented there. Nurse Rosetta, JackKnife Johnny and all the rest! Also, if you looked closely into Alice’s eyes on the cover you can see the people inside his head!

Kids these days, I guess maybe they can relate but how so I do not know. When I was growing up it was pre internet. Meaning all I had to go by was the album art, the album and my imagination. Music wasn’t as disposable as it is now. I didn’t have unlimited music at my finger tips. I got an album or a tape of the month (wow remember those??!!) and that’s all I had but in reality, all I needed. My friends and my memories are locked up in these albums. They are always there waiting on me to show up and play. They never get old.

The album means so much to me to that you can see the really cool lunchbox my friend from childhood got me for Christmas this year after the videos!

Enjoy some of the songs from the album below!

Bret Michaels turns 50!

google.com, pub-2427795083793513, DIRECT, f08c47fec0942fa0

Say it isn’t so… Damn all of us 80’s guys are creeping up on the half century mark. But you know what? We still look and feel like we are 21 so kiss my ass all you young dudes. Growing old and being old is for pussies. Can I say pussies on Kickacts? Let me check..hang on… Kickacts is me anyway. so yea, growing old is for pussies…guyliner is still in use as needed…

Bret has had a few health scares but for a diabetic that is still out of the road, keeping it on the road he is doing well. Can’t beat a guy that calls his chick in the middle of the night from the road to check in only to hear a guy’s voice so he goes back to the laundry mat and picks out “Every rose has it’s thorns”. You think she is still pissed? You think he still cares? That song is still pulling in the bucks and like Bret says, his old girlfriend is on her seventh or eighth husband. So, Bret wins!

  Anyway, Happy Birthday Bret!

Now go get your candles blown!!

Rock of Love!
