Clean Nuclear Energy? No such thing…

google.com, pub-2427795083793513, DIRECT, f08c47fec0942fa0

(There are interesting links at the bottom)

Here is another perfect example of what once was “preached” as the new Fukushimahorizon in energy. A brave new world. Touted once as the way to go for the future of electricity, it has proven once again it can’t be trusted or used safely over time. Does it produce clean and efficient electricity? I guess so but the lightning in the bottle can’t be tamed or remain caged forever. So is it worth it? Our leaders tell it is but the facts are in the pudding. So what if it produces electricity for 30 or 40 years without incidents? It only takes one incident to change the landscape for ever. In the last 30 years we’ve had three nuclear accidents that either lead to calamity or almost lead there. Even small accidents can lead to the poisoning of the land and the people around it.

Let’s go back to March 28, 1979. Three Mile Island in Pennsylvania. A stuck valve and the nuclear reactor almost went into meltdown. It also released an unknown amount of radioactive material into air. Was a major disaster averted? Yes but barely. The clean up from the accident took from 1979 until 1993 and cost over a billion dollars…

Fast forward to April 26, 1986. Ukraine. The  Chernobyl Nuclear power plant. During a routine system check all hell broke lose. The reactor melted down and exploded and sent radioactive fuel and core materials into the air. Whole cities had to be evacuated. Evacuated as in “Leave now’…”Take nothing with you”so here we are almost 30 years later and Russia has entire cities frozen in time. The people sent in to fight the fires at the reactor were not aware they were exposing themselves to deadly radiation levels. Radioactive rainfall fell on other Countries. The radiation in the clouds traveled around the world…Today the perimeter keeps getting larger and larger. It is said that some places the half life of the radiation is 24,000 years. So to quote the 1968 movie “The Planet of the Apes” we have created a forbidden zone.. So mankind has basically poisoned the land for hundreds of generations to come. Today the reactor is encased in concrete. It’s a temporary fix until someone else in the future can figure out what to do with it…

Planet of the Apes - Forbidden Zone

And last  on our list is the Fukushima nuclear plant. March 11, 2011. Rocked by an earthquake and hit directly by a tsunami,  This one was a natural disaster but a deadly one too. This thing is of like nothing we have seen before and it continues to dump radioactive water into Japan’s ground water effecting them and dumping contaminated water into the sea effecting “EVERYONE”. The situation is not even under control as of yet and the people in charge are basically trying to balance a pencil on a breath of air. Once slip and its all gone…

All these plants were built by “Modern Men”. “Extremely knowledgeable Men”. “Nuclear “Educated Men” but still things went wrong… And now Iran is making uranium supposedly for power for it’s people…

I realize the genie is out of the bottle but it’s too big to contain. We need to put the monster back in the bottle…There has got to be something out there that is cheaper and not so harmful if  “everything goes to hell”

I don’t have the answers but I can clearly see we have a problem…Opinions welcome at submit@kickacts.com

This lady had permission to travel through the vast waste land of Chernobyl’s legacy. She has went back for several years now. Well worth the read and has plenty of photographs too. Read all of it…

To see the graveyard of all the equipment used to trying to put out the fire at Chernobyl go here. Interesting note though. Despite all the equipment still holding high radiation levels people continue to still equipment and parts from the graveyard.

Styx “Music Time” Worst video or Genius?

google.com, pub-2427795083793513, DIRECT, f08c47fec0942fa0

Not sure how to take it. On one side, its funny and other the other side, it reminds me of a David Lee Roth video. His videos in this manner work…but does the Styx one work? Dennis De Young seems to be playing the role of Lou Costello?

notice Tommy Shaw is only in one scene. I guess by the time this came out the band was done. But enjoy the 80’s “HUGE” humor 😉

Ten questions with ZotheJerk of The Jerk Nation

google.com, pub-2427795083793513, DIRECT, f08c47fec0942fa0

Recently James Lowe from Kickacts Magazine sat down with one of the very exciting artists on the scene. The following is a written interview we conducted with the artist while they were working on their next CD and Tour. First off

I want to thank you for taking the time out of your busey schedule to talk to us here today, as i know our readers have been requesting us get you in here some how some way. You folks have been described by your fans as internet

sensations in this interview we will attempt to figure out how this artist became such a great performer and what they have going forward.

1. Welcome to Kick Acts. Tell us a little about yourself and your band and were you can be found at on the web.

I am ZotheJerk of The Jerk Nation. Im a rap artist specializing in Hip Hop and Soul. My sound is a thrilling thought provoking roller coaster ride of sheer delight.

zon

2. Who are your musical heroes, influences & why?

Im influenced by the Beatles, Michael Jackson, Eminem, Jay Z, Hasous Clay, Boldy James, Pink floyd, and lots of others

3. Do you have any advice for someone just getting started in playing music? Any pitfalls they should avoid?

My greatest advice would be find yourself musically and never veer from who you are. Allow yourself to grow even reinvent yourself but never allow someone to tell you who to be musically

4. Do you have a greatest gig story you’d like to share?

My favorite memory was of a show i performed at in Lawrence, Kansas. There was two kids there like 8 to 10 years old, and they actually introduced us the show! It was a moment i will never forget.

5. On the same token as the above question. How about a “worse gig” ever story.

First show ever we were booed off the stage by crowd of at least 1000 people. lol that was the true beginning of my career

6. Do you have any other hobbies other than playing music? Collect stamps? Collect hats from off the side of the road? Draw pictures of boobs?

i do love pictures of boobs lol, my hobby is philosophy and people. i love to connect with different people and experience different cultures

7. What do you think about the present music scene or lack of? Care to address that?

I think there is a music scene in Kansas City but i think its spread out in movements. The artists are generating interest and getting the gigs. Their fan base is growing some are securing major deals and blowing up the independent scene. I think confidence in this cycle has got to be stronger. there are so many brilliant artists that the artists have to self govern where they want the scene to go, thats how i see it at least

8. Tell us something about each of your band members that we wouldn’t expect to hear… Like their hobbies or something like that…

EdofTheJN is is passionate about Honey Mustard from Mcdonalds, Reag has his own language called Reaganese, Hashous Clay is emotionally attached to subway, and i am addicted to Jacstack BBQ lol

9. Hypothetical situation. You’re stranded on Gilligan’s island and you get to hook up with only one of the girls… Is it Ginger, Mary Ann or Mrs. Howell and why?

lets see Mrs Howell has that bread, Ginger was to hot to be loyal and Mary Ann looks freaky, I’d start at Ginger and work down to Mrs. Howell so upon rescue id have a rich cougar on my team lol

10. # 10 is called “Shout It Out Loud”. It’s were you get to talk about whatever you want to talk about. So go ahead and “SHOUT IT OUT LOUD”!

Thanks for taking the time to chat with me! Let me give a BIIIIG What Up Doe to Bo, Reag, Hash, Ed, CJ, Pookie Snuggle, Alex, Marlon, Peters, B MO and all my real immediate crew, Look out for the “LIVE” album coming this Fall! CHeck us out on TheJerkNation.com its our culture… Its Where We Live!!

Ten Questions with “Tan”!

google.com, pub-2427795083793513, DIRECT, f08c47fec0942fa0

Welcome to Kick Acts. Tell us a little about yourself and your band and where you can be found at on the web.

Thanks for having me! My name is TAN, and I’m a Los Angeles based vocalist and songwriter, originally from Malaysia. I just released my debut single “Heat Wave“ which I collaborated with producer Mario Marchetti (Demi Lovato, Jennifer Lopez ) and Grammy winning engineer Evren Göknar (The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Mariah Carey) and it’s now on iTunes and Amazon. You can find me on Facebook – https://www.facebook.com/tanofficialmusic, Twitter – https://twitter.com/tanrealmusic and I also love posting random stuff on my Instagram – http://instagram.com/tanofficial

 Tan_leg Original Final

Who are your musical heroes, influences & why?

I’ve always been a huge fan of pop and rock music. Simple Plan was my favorite band during my high school years; they inspired me to pick up my guitar and write a song whenever I needed to express myself.

Do you have any advice for someone just getting started in playing music? Any pitfalls they should avoid?

Learn about music business because I think it is just as important as music theory. Always stay humble no matter what.

Do you have a greatest gig story you’d like to share?

Well I had my debut TV appearance when I was 10 on Astro Kids Talent Quest, (Season 1) which is Malaysia’s version of Star Search. I’ll never forget the attention I got from my friends and teachers at school at that time haha

On the same token as the above question. How about a “worst gig” ever story.

One time there were a lot of drunk people and some of them were showing me how to sing while I was performing. So… I never went back to that venue again lol

Do you have any other hobbies other than playing music? Collect stamps? Collect hats from off the side of the road? Draw pictures of boobs?

I really like to collect guitar picks because I know for a fact that they wouldn’t cost me a fortune haha

What do you think about the present music scene or lack of?

I don’t think that the present music scene is lacking anything. Music is art and there’s really no right and wrong.

Tell us something about you that we wouldn’t expect to hear… (Like their hobbies or something like that)

Mmm I don’t know…Well I guess I should tell you guys about my guilty pleasure, which is eating before going to bed every night haha

Hypothetical situation. You’re stranded on Gilligan’s island and you get to hook up with only one of the girls. Is it Ginger, Mary Ann or Mrs. Howell and why?

Well I don’t really want to imagine myself stranded on an island but the answer is Mary Ann. lol

Our last question is called Shout It Out Loud. It’s where you get to talk about whatever you want to talk about. So go ahead and SHOUT IT OUT LOUD

Thanks guys for having me! Be sure to download “Heat Wave” on iTunes and be on the look out for the music video coming soon.

Keep rocking!

Russian plane crash video :(

google.com, pub-2427795083793513, DIRECT, f08c47fec0942fa0

Man, you can see the plane’s running lights flashing on the tarmac before it flies straight down into the ground and explodes… all souls were lost. It had to be terrifying for everyone on board.

Here’s the story:

By Douglas Busvine and Alissa de Carbonnel

MOSCOW, Nov 17 (Reuters) – A Boeing 737 airliner crashed on Sunday in the Russian city of Kazan, killing all 50 people on board and spotlighting the poor safety record of regional airlines that ply internal routes across the world’s largest nation.

The son of the president of the oil-rich province of Tatarstan and the regional head of the FSB intelligence service were named among those killed when the plane exploded in a ball of fire on hitting the runway.

Pictures showed charred wreckage scattered over a wide area, apparently taken after firefighters had extinguished the fire. Russian television broadcast a blurred video showing a bright flash of light. It also published a photo of the plane’s gaping fuselage with firefighters in the foreground.

The Tatarstan airlines flight from Moscow had been trying to abort its landing in order to make a second approach when it crashed, killing all 44 passengers and six crew on board, emergency officials said.
