James interviews Jeff Henson of Meganaut
Thanks to James for the interview!
Welcome to Kick Acts. Tell us a little about yourself and your band and were you can be found at on the web.
www.meganautmusic.com And I am Jeff Henson the frontman/founder of the
hard rock band.
Who are your musical heroes, influences & why?
QOTSA is a big one, 70’s hard rock.. and also guys like nilsson, nick lowe,
and the like for their killer melodies.
Do you have any advice for someone just getting started in playing music? Any pitfalls they should avoid?
Make a great sounding record, buy a van and get your ass on the road. Pitfalls…?
Not getting on the road or taking it seriously.. until you
do, you have a very very tiny shot at anything
Do you have a greatest gig story you’d like to share?
Any night we are playing music in front of fans is the greatest gig to us.
Some obviously better than others, but we just like to play.
On the same token as the above question. How about a “worse gig” ever story.
Lol probly, maybe the time the ATF and FBI people busted into the bar and
shut it down an hour before we went on.. that was fun
Do you have any other hobbies other than playing music? Collect stamps? Collect hats from off the side of the road? Draw pictures of boobs?
nope, i make music of all sorts and produce albums for other people… my
life is pretty much only music
What do you think about the present music scene or lack of? Care to address that?
all i’ll say is that we are on a self proclaimed mission to bring some
balls and strong melodies back to straight forward rock n roll.
Tell us something about each of your band members that we wouldn’t expect to hear… Like their hobbies or something like that…
hmmm, we are really a boring, nerdy bunch of guys that geek out about music
and sometimes video games and iphone apps… pretty much music runs every
part of all of our lives.
Hypothetical situation. You’re stranded on Gilligan’s island and you get to hook up with only one of the girls… Is it Ginger, Mary Ann or Mrs. Howell and why?
Ginger, I’ve had a thing for redheads… although mary ann would probly be
a lot less drama
Our last question is called “Shout It Out Loud”. It’s were you get to talk about whatever you want to talk about. So go ahead and “SHOUT IT OUT LOUD”!
CALL YOUR RADIO STATION AND REQUEST BANDS LIKE MEGANAUT AND GO SEE LIVE
SHOWS. RADIO WILL PLAY GOOD MUSIC AGAIN IF WE YELL LOUD ENOUGH… YOU
WANNA BITCH ABOUT THE MUSIC SCENE.. THEN GO DO SOMETHING TO HELP CHANGE IT.
That loud enough? 🙂 thanks for the interview and for not asking 35
questions about what our favorite color is and shit like that. Much love*
Tom Petty speaks volumes about modern country music
I like how he sums it up pretty good in these two quotes. Hats off to Tom for speaking the truth and being honest and not worrying about what others think too.
“I don’t really see a George Jones or a Buck Owens or any anything that fresh coming up,” Petty explains. “I’m sure there must be somebody doing it, but most of that music reminds me of rock in the middle 80s where it became incredibly generic and relied on videos.”
“I hate to generalize on a whole genre of music, but it does seem to be missing that magic element that it used to have,” he furthers. “I’m sure there are people playing country that are doing it well, but they’re just not getting the attention that the shittier stuff gets.”
Here’s the link for the whole article.

Death Row confessions from Texas
and their crimes… For all you curious and sick bastards out there! Pretty interesting site. Texas don’t play around. Since 1977 Texas death row inmates get out of here pretty easily compared to how they took out most of their victims. Death by Lethal injection instead of through old “Sparky”. I think it would better going to sleep and “passing over” than being cooked from the inside out by Thomas Edison’s or Nikola Tesla’s electricity invention. Depending on which side of the argument you want to be on.
chuck
Here is one “last statement” quote from an inmate getting ready to be executed and there are hundreds more and the crimes they were committed to death for from other death row inmates.
Date of Execution:
June 12, 2013
Offender:
Elroy Chester, #999280
Last Statement:
I just want to say I don’t want you to have hate in your heart for me, because I took your loved one. I know it doesn’t mean anything; I told the truth because I feel like you should know who killed your loved one. God watches everything. Don’t hate me, if you do, you’ll have to deal with Him later. For me, live your life but don’t hate me. I’m sorry for taking your loved one.
Ms. Suzy, Susan, thank you for fighting for me in the courts. Thank you for supporting me for all these years. Elroy Chester wasn’t a bad man, I knew me. A lot of people say I didn’t commit those murders, I really did it.
That’s my statement. Warden, you can go ahead.
Pretty damn scary considering they are seconds from meeting their maker and knowing they are. I wonder how many have “An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge” moment? And who in the hell will know that story reference besides me???
(I wonder how many other writers will jack this post and rewrite it and make it their own? lol…I can think of a couple, no hard feelings but how bout a shout out and at least tag Kickacts)
And now for the show you have been waiting for…Click this link

James interviews Tamara Bubble!
Recently James Lowe from Kickacts Magazine sat down with one of the very exciting artists on the scene.
Welcome to Kick Acts. Tell us a little about yourself and your band and were you can be found at on the web.
Thanx for the warm welcome babes! I’m Tamara Bubble. I’m from Brooklyn, New York (Fort Greene to be exact). I’m and entertainer, actress, songwriter and model. I write and perform Jazz, Pop, Hip Hop, R&B and Soul. My official website it http://TamaraBubble.com and that’s where you should start.
Who are your musical heroes, influences & why?
I have sooo many influences, mostly old school though. I listen to so many different genres of music. Michael Jackson is the ultimate performer and POP KING! When it comes to Jazz, I love me some Ella Fitzgerald and Lena Horne. I’m a rapper too and Biggie does it for me lyrically. He’s the reason I take the lyrics so serious. He’s just a dope storyteller. I love all those 90s R&B and Gospel groups. I love beautiful harmonies … SWV, Brownstone, Boyz II Men, Take 6, etc. As far as powerful women that sing and rap, Lauryn Hill and Queen Latifah.
Do you have any advice for someone just getting started in playing music? Any pitfalls they should avoid?
There’s no way to avoid the pitfalls. I’d love to be positive and lie and say it’s all peaches and cream lol but the truth of the matter is that if you’re just getting started be prepared to waste and music and find people who are not as hard working as you. Don’t let it slow you down, just don’t be surprised when you see it first hand. The scams, the lies, it’s really like a soap opera lol
Do you have a greatest gig story you’d like to share?
I did a show in Miami. The crowd was amazing. I always take their reactions home with me especially when it’s a new crowd. I look dead in their eyes and see pure enjoyment while hearing the songs for the first time. That is an amazing feeling.
On the same token as the above question. How about a “worse gig” ever story.
Well I don’t know if this qualifies because the gig was great, but the trip there was the worst. My first show on the “Unleashed” promo tour was a doozy. Well, getting there anyway. I over packed because well I’m a girl and tend to bring everything I own for a one day trip. Ended up having to dump everything to make room for the merchandise I was selling at the show (posters, t-shirts, CDs) and then had nerve to miss my flight GRRR! Ahem … I won’t name names LOL. Next, I got hustled by the flight agent and paid extra for this unguaranteed standby flight and also had issues renting the pre-reserved, NONREFUNDABLE, rental car!! Unfortunately I don’t walk around with copies of utility bills in my back pocket GRRRR!! Now, over 4 hours late (and been growling all day), I no longer have time to stop by the hotel, check in, shower and change. AIRPORT bathroom is the new Marriott! Then, this freaking taxi guy (not knowing that we’re already 4 hours late), takes the scenic route from the airport (plays the GPS game) to run up the meter GRRRRRR! When I get there though, my attitude changed and all things were Bubbly! People waiting to see the “Bubble On Deck” was such an amazing feeling! Atlanta showed so much love ^_^.
https://itunes.apple.com/au/album/rap-2-this/id545904490?i=545904491
The moral of that story is don’t miss your flight lol no I just learned that no matter what’s going on in your day, when you have a show, your job as an artist is to entertain!
Do you have any other hobbies other than playing music? Collect stamps? Collect hats from off the side of the road? Draw pictures of boobs?
I like to entertain in general. Acting and dancing are at the top of the list. I’m no comedian but I do make people laugh a lot. It’s healthy. I love games, board games, card games, rollercoasters, I even make up games lol
What do you think about the present music scene or lack of? Care to address that?
The current music scene is a bit super saturated. Everybody’s an artist. There’s hardly any fans of the art. It’s fine if that’s really your passion, otherwise you’re just creating a bunch of meaningless crap that listeners have to sort through to find me lol thanx a lot.
Tell us something about each of your band members that we wouldn’t expect to hear… Like their hobbies or something like that…
I’m addicted to chicken, ice and old school video games.
Hypothetical situation. You’re stranded on Gilligan’s island and you get to hook up with only one of the girls… Is it Ginger, Mary Ann or Mrs. Howell and why?
Um do they have any brothers because I don’t do girls lol
Our last question is called “Shout It Out Loud”. It’s were you get to talk about whatever you want to talk about. So go ahead and “SHOUT IT OUT LOUD”!
I want to give a special shout to my manager Patrick at Pspell Management, my label Blue Pie Productions/ DJ Central / Sony and my fans for making it all worthwhile. Stick with me and stay tuned.

It’s “DEVO” day in memory of Alan Myers
from:
http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/devo-drummer-alan-myers-dies-574714
A member of the new wave band from 1976 to 1986, he plays on their biggest hit, 1980’s “Whip It.”
Alan Myers, the third and most prominent drummer of the band Devo, has died, according to a tweet by drummer and current Devo member Josh Freese. Myers had been battling cancer.
Myers joined Devo in 1976 and left a decade later. He can be heard on the new wave band’s biggest hit, 1980’s “Whip It,” which reached No. 14 on the Billboard Hot 100. Myers also appears in the song’s iconic video, joining his bandmates in black, sleeveless turtlenecks, and their trademark headgear, where he is shown playing a set of Synare 3 drum synthesizers.
His style of drumming became near legendary thanks to such seminal albums as Devo’s 1978 debut, Q: Are We Not Men? A: We Are Devo! And 1980’s Freedom of Choice as well as the concert movie Devo Live 1980, issued by Target Video in 2005.
