Sharon-Osbourne-and-Ozzy-OsbourneRecently Ozzy has come forward and now reporting that not only is he a recovering alcoholic, and drug addict. He can also add to that list..WAIT FOR IT…..a recovering sex addict..LMAO!! How ridiculous is that? Sex addiction is real but come on OZZY really? From watching your sitcom you can hardly walk across a floor or speak coherently..Sex addiction is real of course. I don’t know Ozzy but from his public persona I would simply guess he was looking for affection/attention and not from an over bearing woman that his wife appears to be…

ANGUS YOUNG RETIRING AC/DC?

‘It can look a bit strange – ‘Who’s this old guy in a school suit?’ ” says 61-year-old AC/DC guitarist Angus Young. “Somebody once commented, ‘From a distance, he looks quite youthful.’ It’s only when you get up close that you can see the weathered look.” That wear and tear are real for Young as he leads AC/DC through their toughest and possibly final world tour, which ends September 20th in Philadelphia.

Venue ceiling collapses during rock show!

This could have been a lot worst than it was. Remember when the roof collapsed on a venue the night before KISS was scheduled to perform several years ago?

Hit the link for the video! >CBSLocal

Roof Collapse At First Avenue Injures Concertgoers « CBS Minnesota

The building was evacuated after three to four concertgoers were injured. Two people were taken to the Hennepin County Medical Center for evaluation.

A source said the “reverberation of music” caused a leak in the pipes in the ceiling, and the tiles fell down after becoming saturated with water.

The music venue was hosting a performance by “Theory of a Deadman.”

KickActs interveiws “Ghost Lit Kingdom”!

google.com, pub-2427795083793513, DIRECT, f08c47fec0942fa0

GhostLitKingdomMAIN

Welcome to Kick Acts. Tell us a little about yourself and were you can be found online.

We are an LA based Indie Alternative Pop band new to the scene this year. You can find our music and photos and shows and life-long secrets, etc. on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Reverbnation, Bandcamp, Soundcloud and ghostlitkingdom.com.

Who are your musical heroes and influences? Why?

Gotta go with bands/artists like Daughter, Ben Howard, Bon Iver, Matt Corby, etc. for the courage to do something outside of the box but still within the realm of soulful, humble, emotional artistic expression. Such talented players as well. If we can reach that threshold, the combination of respectable talent and music itself, we will be very grateful indeed.

Do you have any advice for someone just getting started in the music business?

Do not underestimate the amount of effort it will take just to get off the ground. Things like professionalism, passion, dedication, financial commitment, self awareness, patience, etc. are of the utmost importance. Do not be afraid of failure. There will be many of them along the way.

What piece of advice did you ignore that you wish you hadn’t?

Be wary of the Hollywood scams. We lost almost $1,000 once to a bogus PR scheme back when we were just starting in the LA scene. Things like that make it hard not to label Hollywood as the cesspool of all human waste.

Do you have a greatest gig story or worst gig horror story you’d like to share?

We played an acoustic show in Santa Barbara a while back and as Taylor went to take a breath right before the huge vocal outro of one of the songs he breathed in, mouth against the microphone, and inhaled a small mouthful of some mysterious fluid through the screen of the mic that had, apparently, accumulated in the microphone body over the course of time. Needless to say, he nearly puked on stage and we learned then what it truly means to fear the house equipment.

Do you have any other hobbies other than playing music? Collect stamps? Collect hats from off the side of the road? Draw pictures of peckers or boobs?  Make sock puppets? Sit in the dark and eat Cheetos?

We thoroughly enjoy playing a select group of sports. Not that we are terribly good at them but it’s just fun to throw the football or play 21 (Andrew and Jason love a good basketball run around) before a show or on an off day on tour. Ela is pretty impressive on skates too, as are Michael and Taylor who grew up playing hockey.

What do you think about the current music scene or lack of? Care to address that?

It’s cool how little indie scenes are popping up here and there in LA and its surrounding areas now that the strip and it’s kitsch are starting to kind of fade out. On a grander scale, it seems like we are coming into a scene where the musicianship and songwriting is coming back into appreciation a little more than in recent years. Of course, with the technology age in full swing and the record companies trying to crank out pop hits left and right we are still bound to be fed the trash every once in awhile but things like Arcade Fire and Bon Iver winning Grammys certainly instill a sense of hope for the future of indie music itself.

Do you think reality shows like American Idol, X Factor and The Voice have helped or hurt the music industry as a whole?

It’s kind of a David Bowie thing in that it goes both ways. There are some seriously ridiculous things about them like the way it is all so governed by viewers so it’s often not even really about the art but there are some very real upsides as well. The music and artists that come out of it is  the obvious point to make but there are subtleties as well. For instance, Andrew (our bass player) used to work on some of the reality shows when he was growing up in Melbourne and he always says one of the coolest things about it was that when he was working So You Think You Can Dance he was able to expose the viewers to some really good music that they may never have heard elsewhere by working the songs into the show and dances themselves. So these shows definitely have the capability to do wonderful things for music. It’s just a matter of whether they decide to do so.

What is your opinion of unauthorized music downloads?

In a perfect world it would not even be an issue but the parasitic nature of the human race is unavoidable. Overall, however, it’s pretty unfortunate that it happens. The internet gives people that little buffer of pseudo safety between themselves and the people that it affects. It is far less likely that thousands of people would steal from a mom and pop store that makes their living off the merchandise in the store but that’s basically the same idea with illegally downloading music, especially from up and coming bands.

Tell us something about you/each of your band members that we wouldn’t expect to hear.

Jason was in the Air Force for six years! Ela grew up in Turkey and, thus, speaks fluent Turkish. Andrew grew up in Australia and, thus, speaks fluent Australian. Mike studied classical acoustic guitar in college and performed in a touring quartet. Taylor went to Arizona State University out of high school on scholarship to study Kinesiology… and hated it.

Hypothetical situation. You’re on Gilligan’s Island and you get to hook up with only one of the survivors… Which one and why?

Mary Ann and Ginger would be the obvious top candidates but they both seem like they’d be expecting and, thus, unappreciative. Gilligan would stumble through the whole experience so he is out. Mr. Howell… multi millionaire(former billionaire…what a tragedy) and Republican. Pass. There are probably few things that could produce more self worth dilemmas than a casual sexual experience with a PHD while marooned on an island so Hinkley is out as well. Captain would playfully refer to your genitals as “Little Buddy” so that leaves Mrs. Howell as the most suitable choice. Probably in need of a good kiss anyway. (Editor’s note: someone did their homework on this one! BRAVO! 🙂

Do you know what a vinyl album is and have your ever purchased one? If so, what was it?

Ela and her family collect them! The last one she bought was Daughter Live at Air Studios. Such an incredible record.

You’re marooned on an island with Justin Bieber. Do you choke him out the first night in his sleep or what?

No. Would be such a waste. He gets to live if he promises us a home cooked dinner party with Usher.

What is your opinion of Miley Cyrus?

She’s growing on us as the years go on. She’s no longer the encapsulating body for the metaphoric death to all things music but there is still a good distance yet to go. Wrecking Ball is definitely a guilty pleasure for Taylor, though. If every GLK chorus hit as hard as that one he would be satisfied.

Which would you rather hear in concert?  Lip-synching or real vocals?

Real vocals every day of the week. Unless it’s John Krasinski on Jimmy Fallon’s lip sync battle. Flawless performance.

Who, or what, is the next big thing?

Still holding out for Tupac to come back for real. That hologram was way too life-like for it to just be “made in his likeness.” It was foreshadowing for sure.

One artist you can’t get enough of and can’t live without is… Why?

Captain Geech and the Shrimp Shack Shooters. They are a musical revelation that will live through the ages.

Confession time. Share a secret about yourself.

None of us can read or write.

Favorite movie of all time and why?

Dünyayi Kurtaran Adam (1982). Turkish dollar store Star Wars illegally using unlicensed scores and scenes from other movies. An instant classic.

Our last question is called “Shout It Out Loud”. It’s where you get to talk about whatever you want to talk about. So go ahead and “SHOUT IT OUT LOUD”!

Since we are a young band, that most people are yet to be acquainted with, it seems prudent to talk about what music means to us. Without getting to soapy on the subject, we just want to express our appreciation for its existence as a whole. We are trying to write songs that can reach an emotional recognition with the people who listen to them and then perform them in such a way that reflects that sentiment. Music has done wonderful things for the preservation of our sanity through that type of connection that we have experienced with artists and songs that are dear to us and we would be eternally fulfilled if we were able to give that back so thank you for letting us share Ghost Lit Kingdom with you guys. You have no idea what it means to us.

google.com, pub-2427795083793513, DIRECT, f08c47fec0942fa0

(please comment/Like on Facebook and share)

10009848_10152322011263582_201437453_n

Welcome to Kick Acts. Tell us a little about yourself and were you can be found online.

Well we’re a three piece band from the state of Texas and we can be found on many sites online but our primary 3 are ReverbNation Twitter and Facebook those sites are :

www. ReverbNation com / feel never real

www. Twitter com / feel never real

www. Facebook.com / feel never real

Who are your musical heroes and influences? Why?

We have many different influences, most in the genre of Rock, such as nirvana Guns and Roses, but we’ve even been influenced by older country artists as well such as , Waylon Jennings and Hank Williams Jr and Ronnie Milsap Why, because its what we like.

Do you have any advice for someone just getting started in the music business?

DONT DO IT!!!! :), Naw , its tough tho. You’ve always had to put in the time but it seems to be tougher these days in alot of aspects that weren’t as tough before. Such as the amount of money to be made is somewhat less than before and thats fine just dont expect to be a multi millionaire and you’d be alright.

Touring is definitely tough as well not alot of people can eat the same sandwich for a month! ! 🙂

What piece of advice did you ignore that you wish you hadn’t?

we weren’t given alot of advice, unfortunately we really didnt know anyone in the industry when we moved to Dallas area so we got taken for lots of rides, but still thats how u learn. Ive shared some advice with others that im sure they wished they’d listened to

Do you have a greatest gig story or worst gig horror story you’d like to share?

definitely have had some awesome ones and some bad ones , the awesome ones are generally filled with people and they’re all singing the songs but nothing really specific without divulging some graphic information 🙂

Do you have any other hobbies other than playing music? Collect stamps? Collect hats from off the side of the road? Draw pictures of peckers or boobs? Make sock puppets? Sit in the dark and eat Cheetos?

Personally I love drag racing and more specifically 1/8th mile track, I have a truck I like to race and also have some friends with actual fast cars that are fun to be apart of as well

What do you think about the current music scene or lack of? Care to address that?

67317_10151527046758582_382955774_nIts definitely weird, not near as many bands pushing to get thru and venues are drying up, so its a definite chang, hopefully its just a phase , but who knows

Do you think reality shows like American Idol, X factor and The Voice have helped or hurt the music industry as a whole?

well if u ever get to look at a “contract” from those folks run unless u want to be a famous , poor, puppet

What is your opinion of unauthorized music downloads?

I dont really think there’s much to be done about it, that genie is out of the bottle. Bout all I think we can do is embrace it and hope those folks come to shows.

Tell us something about each of your band members that we wouldn’t expect to hear.

I am a idiot (Tim)

Shea dances real well

And Mat is Shelley’s new boyfriend (sick in the head)

Hypothetical situation. You’re on Gilligan’s island and you get to hook up with only one of the survivors… Which one and why?

Maryann im into the girl next door type

Do you know what a vinyl album is and have your ever purchased one? If so, what was it

When I was young I found a record player of my parents, so one day I was at the pawn shop and saw “appetite for destruction” on vinyl and remembered my older brother said it was awesome, so 5 $ bought my first record! ! So yeah I know 🙂

You’re marooned on an island with Justin Bieber. Do you choke him out the first night in his sleep or what?

Naw im afraid im a talkin kind of person so I figure someone’s better than nothing to talk to

What is your opinion of Miley Cyrus?418765_10151133121653582_1985904658_n

She’s obviously talented like her or not, its a shame to me that she’s surrounded by label and management folks that encourage her demise for a spectacle to sell records

Which would you rather hear in concert? Lip synching or real vocals?

Backing tracks to me are a joke , no band should do this

Who, or what, is the next big thing?

Honestly who knows, hopefully we are 🙂

One artist you can’t get enough of and can’t live without is…

Beatles truthfully

Confession time. Share a secret about yourself.

I love people, but I really enjoy kind of keeping to myself I’m not shy I just like to observe people

Favorite movie of all time and why.

The aviator I really like the cinematography it just has a real feel for the depiction of the time I think it’s pretty awesome Howard Hughes tells the US government to kiss his ass more or less

Our last question is called “Shout It Out Loud”. It’s were you get to talk about whatever you want to talk about. So go ahead and “SHOUT IT OUT LOUD”!

We are beginning to tour this summer and are looking forward to seeing is many fans as we can so please if you see we’re making it to your town come out and see us you won’t regret it

KickActs interviews “Curious Quail”

google.com, pub-2427795083793513, DIRECT, f08c47fec0942fa0

Recently James Lowe from Kickacts Magazine sat down with one of the very exciting artists on the scene!

Quail - Acoustic - Photo by Anna Larina

1. Tell us a little about yourself and your band and were you can be found at on the web.

Mike: We are Curious Quail I’m Mike, the singer / songwriter / guitarist.

Joey: I am a drummer. My band can be found many places on the web.

Mike: Such as: Curiousquail.com, facebook.com/curiousquail, twitter.com/curiousquail, instagram.com/curiousquail – we’re nothing if not predictable. Google “Curious Quail” and you don’t get birds anymore.

2. Who are your musical heroes, influences & why?

Joey: I think Buddy Rich said it best: “I consider every drummer who played before me an influence, in every way.”  Also, I really dig Hall and Oates!

Mike: I think you mean Garfunkel and Oates. I’m a huge fan of Louis Armstrong – Satchmo knew what was up.

3. Do you have any advice for someone just getting started in playing music? Any pitfalls they should avoid?

Joey: If you are just getting started, decide why you are getting into it. If you are doing it because you want to get serious about it, you better start with the basics – scales, technique, rudiments, etc.  Then practice your ass off.

Mike: Love what you love, don’t hate what you don’t. You’ll get way further being positive and supportive than you will believing you’re above anyone. The moment you start thinking “I deserve to be more successful than X band…” you need to seriously reevaluate what you’re doing.

4. Do you have a greatest gig story you’d like to share?

Joey: When I was in high school, I took a one-time gig as a member of a “Mickey Mouse Marching Band” for some well-off little kid’s birthday party. There were five or six of us in the “band.”  We had to march into the room playing the theme to the Mickey Mouse Club, perform a Disney medley, and finish by leading everyone in the singing of “Happy Birthday.” We wore Mickey Mouse ears and marched around a private little room in the back of a Chinese restaurant. I was playing the bass drum, and I’m pretty sure I bumped into several of the family members during our performance.

Easiest $100 I ever made for a gig.

Mike: I can’t top that.

5. On the same token as the above question. How about a “worse gig” ever story.

Mike: We were playing a “Music After Dark” series that followed the City’s sponsored “Music in the Park” free concerts downtown. The shady promotion company involved forgot to send a sound person who, y’know, could actually USE the equipment. He seriously looked like if he touched the console for more than five seconds that it would electrocute him or something. So about 3 songs in they tell us forgot they were supposed to hang a banner behind the stage with the name of the radio station that sponsored the show and cut into our set time in order to do so. 2 songs later they tell us they don’t know how to handle the equipment and that we have to turn it down ourselves. I say “are you fucking kidding me?” and they tell us to get off stage. Joey goes outside to find the guy that runs the company, he’s having a beer with his buddies, and gives him the 3rd degree about how unprofessional his organization is. I get a call from the radio station manager the next day apologizing and saying they fired the promotion company; turns out he was sitting right next to the guy as Joey was tearing into him.

Quail 2 - Photo by Anna Larina

6. Do you have any other hobbies other than playing music? Collect stamps? Collect hats from off the side of the road? Draw pictures of boobs?

Joey: I don’t draw boobs anymore, but I do consider myself somewhat of an artist.  I got to help with the album art for our upcoming release, and I’ve been working on art for an eventual music video.

Aside from that, I spend much of my time sleeping (approximately 1/3 of my life).

Mike: I used to steal restaurant menus; I hang them up in my kitchen. I don’t know WHY I started doing this, I just did.

7. What do you think about the present music scene or lack of? Care to address that?

Joey: We need more people who want to come out and see bands.

Mike: Exactly.

Joey: It might be a lack of viable venues, the cost of shows in a down economy, or the fact that, following the Napster generation, most people expect music to be free and easily accessible from the comfort of their own homes. It might also be that the musicians who grew up on bands such as Nirvana and Pearl Jam are not focused on a “stage show,” and that this makes people less excited about going out to see live music.

Mike: Like, we have a good community going in our area right in terms of venues and bands, but yea – people don’t seem to understand that in order for musicians to survive these days you have to go see them live.

Joey: We need more GWAR!

Mike: That too.

8. Tell us something about each of your band members that we wouldn’t expect to hear… Like their hobbies or something like that…

Joey: Let’s see –

Erin is from Texas.

Abe once tried out as bassist for our band.

Alan often arrives to rehearsal bumping classical music.

Mike’s jaw is made mostly of synthetic material after an unfortunate face-punching incident.

Mike: Joey once got called in for Jury duty and said “Don’t worry, I’ll get excused because my dad was a cop” and comes back instead saying “I’m the foreman…”

9. Hypothetical situation. You’re stranded on Gilligan’s island and you get to hook up with only one of the girls… Is it Ginger, Mary Ann or Mrs. Howell and why?

Joey: Ginger…?

Mike: Real talk: While I feel old a LOT of the time when interacting with our musical peers, this is not one of those times. I’ve never seen Gilligan’s Island. I know the premise and all, but it’s way before my time I never had Nick at Nite.

10. # 10 is called “Shout It Out Loud”. It’s were you get to talk about anything you want!

Joey:  I would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone that all of the molecules in your body existed long before you burst into consciousness in your current form, and that those same molecules will eventually become part of some other sentient or static element of our world. Life is infinite and simultaneously in infinite peril of inexistence. We are all responsible for our own actions, even if in the end they matter little in the bigger picture. You can chose to create or destroy, but those choices will ring out through the cosmos.

Mike: Too much Neil deGrasse Tyson for you, man. But seriously – if you’ve never heard of “Skeletor is Love” please go google it. So worth your time.

Thanks James, this has been a blast! Oh, did you end up picking up that giant map-wall hanging?

they have such an impact on the Hip Hop industry.
Do you have any advice for someone just getting started in the music business?
My advice is always follow your dreams, its not an easy road to travel,
but if you work very hard at your craft you will make it in this business
of music.
What piece of advice did you ignore that you wish you hadn’t?
My bro and r&b hit singer Pleasure P once told me I should always get my music mixed and mastered before I let any one listen to it. I would have
saved a lot of time and money if I had made 1 great song got it mixed well
and mastered, than to make 10 songs and none is radio playable.
Do you have a greatest gig story or worst gig horror story you would like to
share?
The first time I performed a the Famous Apollo Theater in Harlem N.Y.C.
when I was 9 years old, as I was entering the stage the host told me to rub
my hands on the log on the stage before i performed, as I touched the log a
strange good feelings over whelmed my whole body and from that day, I just
love being on stage performing.
Do you have any other hobbies other than playing music? Collect stamps?
Collect hats from off the side of the road? Draw pictures of peckers or
boobs?  Make sock puppets? Sit in the dark and eat Cheetos?
I like playing football, basketball, and video games a lot.

What do you think about the current music scene or lack of? Care to address
that?
I really thinks music forever lives, and it changes with time like every
thing else you just have to adjust to it.

Do you think reality shows like American Idol, X factor and The Voice have
helped or hurt the music industry as a whole?
I think those reality shows helps a lot of great artist to get
recognition that other wise wouldn’t get what they deserved.

What is your opinion of unauthorized music downloads?
It as its good and it as its bad, its good for new up-coming artist that
don’t have a strong fan base as yet, because it makes their music gets
heard that other wise wouldn’t get heard. But its bad for established
artist that already have a strong fan base, because these artists lose
money when people download their tracks for free.

Tell us something about each of your band members that we wouldn’t expect
to hear.
Well when I was 4 months in my mom belly, my dad got rod and shot and
now he as to be living with the help of a wheel chair, and from I was small
I love to push him around and he would let me ride on it in his lap it was
fun.

Hypothetical situation. You’re on Gilligan’s island and you get to hook up
with only one of the survivors’ Which one and why?
11)I would like to hook up with ginger she was always the sexy looking one.

Do you know what a vinyl album is and have your ever purchased one? If so,
what was it?
Yes i do know them, I went with my mom to buy a vinyl album before it
was a Thriller album by Michael Jackson.

You’re marooned on an island with Justin Bieber. Do you choke him out the
first night in his sleep or what?
I would work with him to try to survive.

What is your opinion of Miley Cyrus?
She’s very cool, I like her image.

Which would you rather hear in concert?  Lip synching or real vocals?_ YOUNG LYE PHOTO SHOOT BY RONNIE WRIGHT 108
I would rather hear real vocal, Slick Rick once told my dad that on Soul
Train they use to lip-synching, i bet y’all reader didn’t know that.
